@SilleeMee I was wondering. since you have both a CB RLT mask and a NIRA Pro, what do you think each does for you?

ETA; Ouch, $649 for the Nira pro?  Too rich for me.

@Icegoddess

The mask reduces the redness I have.

The laser firms and reduces lines.

Re: HigherDose Red light Mask?

The new CB mask also has upgraded lights which are 1072nm making those go deeper into the skin. The 1072nm lights are located as shown below:

 Wow, I just looked it up. That one looks fantastic. I didn't realize they had a new design....

This is what I mean when I say the new CB doesn't lay flat:

Also notice the mouth opening is smaller which means there is more coverage around that area with less light escaping.

I loved my Omnilux red light mask, and used it for two years. It seemed over night I started noticing hyperpigmentation, or the beginnings of brown spots. I did my research, and realized not all red light therapy is for all skin tones. Youtube is great if you are looking for answers.

My skin tone is light to medium. I stopped using it. I did a few sessions of Picosure laser to get rid of the brown spots, and now my skin is back to normal.

If I purchase another mask, it will be one that will not cause skin discoloration.

It was great... until it wasn't.

Hyperpigmentation can happen and the probability of it happening is increased when light-sensitizing products are used, such as AHAs, acne meds or retinoids. Also, if you over-use the mask beyond the recommended time frame then that can be a contributing factor. Skin tone is another factor where the more pigment you have in your skin, the higher the chances of hyperpig occurring but not always. Using a FDA-cleared RLT mask is best. Red light is the only FDA-cleared color of light and the other colors (blue, green, yellow) are not.

@SilleeMee  -  I have not jumped on the red mask train yet.  Can you please tell me what benefits you are seeing?

@San Antonio Gal

I use mine mainly to help reduce redness. I have a significant amount of redness b/c of my AI disease. When the redness gets really bad, I go to my derm (about every 2-3 years) and have laser treatments to temporarily remove the redness. The RLT mask helps keep my skin clearer in between visits to my derm.

I didn't pay that much for my NIRA Pro+. I got it using a discount coupon but it was still expensive nonetheless.

@SilleeMee Do you have to use a gel with it?

@Icegoddess

No, you do not need to use any gel with the NIRA. Use it on clean skin.
