Any suggestions what I can use on dull grey hair that is suddenly yellowing? I suspect that my shampoo is the culprit since I recently switched to a new one.

Clairol Shimmer Lights is good for that. But be a little careful, maybe only use it every other time you shampoo until the yellow is gone, then once a week after that. If you use it too much, your hair can take on a bluish cast!

I use biosilk silver lights shampoo for yellowing, works great.

Any of the purple shampoos will act as a toner to counteract the yellowing (brassiness).
Clairol Shimmer Lights works, there is also one made by Jhirimack.
Don't get the Clairol Shimmer Lights in your eyes, though, stings like crazy.

Aveda's Blue Malva shampoo removes yellow casts. It's for gray & blonde hair. I use it at least once a week. It gives excellent shine too.

Smoke from cigarettes and cooking can turn the hair yellow, usually in the front, and some styling products can darken it. Wish WEN came in a "blue" formula.
I use Pantene Silver Expressions every 3 or 4 shampoos. All the "blue" products coat the hair. If the yellow is inside the hair shaft, you could use a little hair bleach on the ends to open the cuticle and then use the "blue" or a toner. Maybe best left to a pro.

Be very careful with purple toned shampoos. DH decided to use one in our master bath shower. It stained the shower floor badly, and to date we can't get rid of the stain. I don't know the makeup of the floor, but it's in a very expensive bath, so good quality material.
My Dad had the most gorgeous white wavy hair - he used Noreen rinse. Put a capsule in a glass of water and combed it through his hair. Whiter than show!! And no mess anywhere.

Thanks for the suggestions! I remember that I used Blue Malva and Shimmer Lights years ago when I had a yellowing problem after using Fekkai's Brilliant Glow shampoo. At that time, my hairdresser told me that my hair was very porous and to be careful what I used. Guess I forgot his warning!
And what is Noreen rinse?? TX

Find a shampoo for bleached blondes or made specifically to brighten gray hair. There are a lot out there. Suave has one and I know specialty shops have them. Do you have a Beauty First near you? or Sally's?

Just curious...have you ever tried WEN? Since I've been using it, I no longer need a "blue" shampoo on my hair. I always hesitate to recommend WEN to others, though, because of the cost.
