That may work for some. But for those who have hollowing out underneath their eyes, nothing topical will help that; hence the search for a product that might help.
Yes, sometimes it is genetic and there really is nothing topical that can change it unfortunately. Nothing topical can fix the thinning of the skin under they eye that occurs (due to genetics) which causes a dark or bluing "circle" under the eye. Certain ethnicities have a tendency for darker circles or skin under the eyes as well. I wish all skincare issues could be fixed with a topical products!
The OP never indicated that her situation is a matter of heredity, genetic pre-disposition, or ethnicity. But rather, it sounds like she's attributing it to age, given the fact that she actually stated her age.

@feline groovy that is interesting- I've never heard of that technique before and all the makeup people on QVC (Mally, Laura Geller, Bobbi Brown, etc) always show applying it the way it shows on the right side. Thanks for sharing this.
@Adelina Ugh yeah, dark circles run in my family on both sides so I think I will be destined to have them in the near future. I already think I see a bit of shadowing, lol. I've been playing with concealing under the eyes but have yet to tried the salmon color.
Someone mentioned Pixi and I found this Pixi Eye Bright kit that contains the pixi brightening one in it that the poster mentioned plus a few more things and think I want to try it if they are cruelty free (haven't checked yet). The fair/light has salmon color, a yellow and two more things can't remember now, lol. The only worry is that some say it a bit drying so we will see.

I know that Laura Mercier has several undereye concealers some that have two different shades and a newer concealer that is heavy duty. If you live near a Sephora or Nordstrom, go in for a demo. You may also want to start applying two fresh cucumber slices on your eyes for at least 5 minutes, 10 minutes may be even better. It takes down puffiness and really works it might help you out with the blue color too. Good luck to you.

^^^^^^^ get this stuff, then top with your regular concealer. Maybelline under eye brightened is great, but I still use the pixi. A little pot will last you a very long time, too!! Full disclosure: I don't have SUPER dark circles, but some days are worse than others, yaknowwhatimean??? I find that a little bit of this really eliminates any darkness. HTH!!

Hylighten by Skinn is wonderful for darkness, redness and swelling around the eyes. I used it for years with great success and for some reason became allergic to it. I liked the product because it's a clear liquid and you could use it under concealer. It takes about 90 days for it to work though, but it does work if you use it. I use Isomers now, but the results are not as good.

What has worked for me regarding darkness around the eyes (hereditary thing for me) is Eve Pearl's dual salmon concealer. I swear by this product.
Whether a product will sink into your fine lines or wrinkles, is as much about the product as the application method. I like @feline groovy's tip regarding the triangle approach. I also apply first with the brush provided (Eve Pearl's brushes are not throw-aways) and then tap (not swipe) with my fingers. I also use this product for any dark spots on my face from my sun-tanning years.
Feline groovy's tip is really good for "hollowness" under the eye. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for sunken under eye skin other than fillers, but this tip helps.
"My" tip - combined with Adelina's salmon-tinted concealer - should also help to cancel out any bluish tones from undereye circles.

The Q isn't the only place to find tips and tricks from beauty experts, Happy.
Nor are they the only place that has well-respected makeup artists.
That's what the entire Internet is for! (very thankfully)
Let's just say I'm naturally-curious about almost everything in life, LOL, and I spend a lot of time online reading and checking things out.

For the discoloration, I find a corrector is a must. i have not used eve pearl's, but I do use Bobbi brown bisque ( it's pink-ish), and it makes a huge difference. I've tried bye bye undereye, and for me It does not cancel out the color enough on it's own - I have to mix in some red pigment to get that to correct enough. I'm too lazy to do that each day, so I tend to stick with BB bisque.
Really, the corrector will make a huge difference, and then layer a brightening product on top, right along that under eye ridge will help further. don't want to spread the brightner all over -keep it on that ridge. Wayne goss on you tube has some good videos on correcting extreme darkness, as does Bobbi brown.
If this helps you any, there are concealers and correctors on the market that are also brightening.
You then have just one product that does two things, and that means sheerer, thinner coverage.
Even if you wish to dust a tiny bit of translucent powder over it.

I was born with dark circles--no joke--hereditary. Over the years, I have tried every product on the market, and did not see many results until I tried Skinn Hylighten. Probably not for everybody, but it sure made a difference for me. (It does take at least 60 days for results.)

It Cosmetics' Bye Bye Undereye is the best since the '90s when Ilana Harkavi sold her concealer. Just make sure to put it on thin.
