Hats are good but get one that has a UPF rating. UV rays go right through most regular kinds of hats but UPF-rated hats block the UV which is what causes bleaching and sun damage.

The hats are getting bigger & bigger, DH laughs every time I get mine out.  I think those tiny umbrella hats is a better idea at this point & probably more comfortable especially when you are at theme parks, etc.

I don't do sun, but, my friend has thin, fine hair. Just limp.  She got skin cancer of the scalp and had to apply some kind of dermatologist cancer cream to the part in her hair that was affected.

Had to apply for like a yr. scabbed over and the Dr.

had to use a blade to cut the scabbed area off.

The cancer cream burned like fire she said.

You all best take a bath in sunscreen and wear a hat that ties on to stay on.
