Hair Stylist

I moved to CO two years ago and have had difficulty finding someone to color and cut my hair. I am now on my fourth sty!ist.

One wanted to talk with her co-workers and it took forever. The second one never wanted to do what I liked. Her haircuts were never even. The third one was ok at first but I never could figure out her prices. I asked but never got a straight answer. I asked her to do highlights but it didn't look right. My hair only looked good for a few days. When I washed it my hair was hard to style.

I am on my fourth and she did a good job. She knew how to do highlights and cut my hair. So far I am pleased. Hopefully, I may have found one. I need to be able to do my hair on my own. If I get a good cut, it should be easy to style.

I have become so discouraged.

I also moved 2 years ago. I moved 250 miles away. I actually was still taking that long trip back whenever I needed a haircut/color. I just hated leaving my gal back downstate. But that trip got old real fast. I found a stylist in a nearby town that I went to for a year. But she was just beginning in the business and really had no experience in doing hair. After a few disasters, I left her and found someone else in another town close by and she is excellent! I'm very happy with her. Theres nothing like having a good hair stylist, isn't there?

@elated, Two years seems rather long, but hang in there. Think of the client & stylist relationship like dating. We've all kissed a lot of frogs in the journey to find our soulmate. Using that philosophy, even in a big city you may have to try several salons before you find a stylist whose work you admire, who has a work ethic you want to deal with, and you have to rather like the person to sit in their chair for a couple hours.

If you are comfortable doing this, while out and about, you may want to ask strangers who have great cuts and color where they have their hair done. Most ladies are so flattered by the compliment they gladly offer up the name of their salon and stylist. Good luck!

Exactly what I experienced moving to Florida. Middle of growing out the pixie cut realized needed trim handle growing out stage. Luckily! Next stylist not only listened intently to me she showed me amount taking off, end result exactly what I wanted growing beautifully. July last appointment already made November. Love the style!!💁

@elated, Have you tried an Aveda salon? Normally, they have very good stylists.

@Katcat1 Very good advice. We have an Aveda School. The teachers supervise the students and prices are quite low. Aveda salons are good because their training is excellent...also like their products.

@elated I'd almost give up my dogs than my stylist (just kidding), but leaving a good one is heartbreaking! When you see someone (mall, grocery store, etc.) w/ a cut or good color, ask where she goes for her hair.

Also I can't stress enough to set up a consultation appt. & bring lots of photos!!

Not really. My first stylist I found when I moved was at an Aveda salon. She was terrible! After a year, I found out that she was fresh out of stylist school, a newbie. She botched my hair so many times I ended up leaving and finding another stylist, that is very experienced, elsewhere that is super!
