For quite some time I have been looking for a color-depositing conditioner to keep my hair color vibrant for the entire period between root touch-ups. I used to use a Tressa product which is no longer available. It seems color-depositing shampoos are more prevalent than conditioners. But, I only shampoo once a week and I want that shampoo to clean my hair, not color it. It also seems difficult to find a believable color. There seems to be a lot of fashion color-depositing products out there rather than color-refreshing products.
I have also used Goldwell Colorance mousse which is a semi-permanent color with success. I would spritz my hair down with water until wet, and then apply the mousse and wait the prescribed amount of time. However, that too, seems to be more difficult to find at least in the shade I was using.
The other day when I was in Ulta I just happened to see this product along the wall called dp HUE. It is billed as semi-permanent hair color and deep conditioner. You apply it to wet hair and let it sit for 3 to 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. I am so happy with the results. I gave it the full 20 minutes as I am on week 4 of my color and I washed my hair every day (with Co-wash not shampoo) while I was on my ski trip. I do color red which is the hardest color to maintain. It will stain the hands so I recommend using gloves. I will make sure to work it into my hair better next time even though I did use a comb because I can tell it's not completely even especially when I lift my hair up in the back. The underneath hair is not as well colored. With the use of a root touch-up spray or powder I might even extend the time between touch-ups by a week.
I got the Copper color, but there is also an Auburn along with the normal Blacks, Browns, etc.

I love this product! I use the root color 4 weeks after my hair stylist colors my hair. It lasts and gives some shine, and then I go back to the salon 3 to 4 weeks later for all over co!or! It looks amazingly professional. Besides ulta, hsn also sells it.

Is it the color boosting gloss + deep conditioning?
I could not find just hair color in that line.
Thanks!

@Witchy Woman Yes, that is what it is. If you look down near the bottom of the front of the bottle is where it talks about it having semi-permanent color in it (in smaller print).

Thanks.
After reading the reviews and it might be my incoming gray will be too resistant.
If it goes on sale, I'll try it.
Glad it is working for you!

@Witchy Woman I wouldn't expect it to be able to cover your gray. That was why I said that I would combine it with a root touch-up spray or powder. Semi-permanent color is not meant to cover grays. I'm just trying to keep my already-colored hair vibrant between doing my roots.

Should have read your post a little more carefully ![]()
I've got my hair color system down to a science, so I should just stick with what works and be happy!
Always looking for a shortcut, and....there really isn't any.

Sorry I am on a tablet and it won't let me be desciptive, so what i have used is the root touch up kit, sells for $31.00 but you get two applications, you get all that you need a application brush, 2 mixing bowls, gloves, color, and activator. I have very resistant grays so I leave it on for the full hour and it covers wonderfully, I also have used the sprays but they make my scalp itchy. I have been using this to for about a year. I also try and buy when Hsn emails me a 20% off coupon. love it!

Is there a strong fragrance? I have I tried some OTC hair color kits and the smell was just so strong....like a bottle of perfume was poured out!

This product does not have a strong fragrence, I am very sensitive to perfumes,as a matter of fact the color my stylist uses which is also made in ita!y has a stronger smell.
