I've tried a few different brands, and some don't break down the foundation creams well, must  be the oil in the heavier foundations?  idk   I would appreciate a few brands of brush cleaner lotions that folks think work well to try.  TIA

This solid cleanser with the scrubby you attach to the lid works great!

I wash mine with Dawn. For quick cleanings I dampen a paper towel with micellar water and swipe my brushes on that...it's just a quickie daily thing. The Dawn cleaning does the deep clean and I do that less often.

I use the silicone 'Brush Egg'  to wash my brushes...gets 'em clean deep down like mini washboard.

I use a liquid brush shampoo that Bare Escentuals made and I have a lot of it still.  When that runs out, I plan on using a mild baby shampoo instead.  A little goes a long way.  To scrub, I use a silicone brush cleaning mat that I bought at Amazon (just a few dollars).   The mat fits in the sink and I add the brush shampoo and scrub away.  It has little nubs with different ridges to really get in there and get all the makeup and debris off the brushes.  They look brand new when I finish.

@LillyBee2   I figure the Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleans the make-up off my face pretty well, so I use the same to clean all my brushes and sponges.

I just use Purity.  It works magic on my brushes.  I just squirt some on the brush and rub the brush around in my palm until the brush runs clear under water.

Re: Good make-up brush cleaner

I'm the odd one out here.  I use an old fashioned bar of Dial Soap.  The orange one.  Hot water and rub the bristles on the bar until all comes out clean.

I've done this with my IT brushes since I got them, and that has to be years ago.  Started with IT brushes when they came to QVC, and that was how long ago?

Still have the same brushes, and they are still like new.  They get washed a lot.

Probably not the best way to go about it, but works for me.

@Mistic

Same here.  I have it on my vanity and doodle my brushes around in it and have a cup for water there (that I use for nothing else) and wash and rinse my brushes until they are clean.  I have had my mink brushes (which you can no longer find) since the 1980s.
