Re: For Those Ladies Choosing To Go Gray...

I went gray fourteen years ago and have never looked back! I get more compliments with my gray hair then I ever did with my dark brown hair. I think it all depends on the cut and also if the hair is healthy looking.

Re: For Those Ladies Choosing To Go Gray...

I have nothing against going gray.  Some people look like silver foxes.  However I believe it depends on the undertone of someones skin.  Gray does not look good on me so I dye it myself.  My hair is healthy and long.  I do admire how some ladies look wonderful with white/silver hair. I remember being on a zoom meeting with a co worker during covid.  Her hair had gone silver and she looked amazing and I told her that.  She started laughing and said her husband told her that her hair had never looked better.

Some women look very beautiful with grey hair.  I would try it if the time ever comes just to see how it looks.

Re: For Those Ladies Choosing To Go Gray...

I have to admit, I'm very vain.

I don't want to look old.  And I want to look pretty.

My hair is natural now.  Silver, with black and a speck of white mixed in.

I would change it in a NY second if I didn't think I looked great.

I have the money and I have the time.

But I don't need to.  I don't look old and I'm still pretty.

I never colored so mine looked like highlights for a bit and now looks salt and pepper with still some brown. I wouldm't color for a couple reasons, but the most important one is I am not beholden to my cosmetologist. I see her for haircuts and that's it.

I am going back and forth on the issue.  I have not colored my hair in several months so there is quite a bit of gray regrowth.

I have a hair appointment this week and must decide if I should keep up the color or have my stylist match the gray roots and let it go.  I am torn.

For those that went gray, were you happy with your decision or did you regret it and go back to coloring?

@Mersha For me I am unexpectedly happy.  I am fine with my age, not trying to pass myself off as being younger, but happy to look good at (for "for") my age and with who I am.  Me old!

To me that outweighs anything else .

Re: For Those Ladies Choosing To Go Gray...

My stylist and I have discussed the going gray for awhile.

When I saw her recently, she suggested doing my highlights lighter for summer and get things moving toward the gray rather than do the transition quickly.

I had a number of life changes in the last few months that have been difficult so she thought it might be better to wait.

She is a friend and knows me well.  I am happy we are going slowly.

Thank you all for your replies and thoughts. Smiley Happy
