I'm just glad I don't examine other women's hands and feet.  I don't take special care of my hands except for putting hand cream on them when I remember.  Do they look like a young woman's hands?  No, and I don't care, since I am not a young woman.  I actually like the look of "older" hands.  My mother's are beautiful.  As far as feet, I usually do my own pedicures and keep my feet exfoliated and put cream on most days.  They look neat and cared for.  I really don't understand why the look of "older" feet would bother another woman. And if my feet should inadvertently give my age away (horrors) although I don't know how feet can do that, I can live with that.

The OP is not bothered by your feet @Tessa Mendoza .  She's just reminding us not to forget caring for our feet as most women focus more on their faces and hands.

@ San Antonio Gal - Thanks for the clarifiation on the OP's part.Smiley Indifferent

I knew what she meant.  But I meant what I said.  OP obviously checks out other women's feet and notices if they look "old."  She said so.  I doubt women who read the Beauty Forum here need a reminder to care for their feet, especially in sandal and flip-flop season.  Not much can be done about old, veiny, thin-skinned feet no matter how much cream you slather on them.  And no, I don't have old looking feet, so my feelings weren't hurt on my own behalf.

I don't watch QVC so I didn't see the presentation, but, if I was selling/showcasing  footwear, I'd be darn sure to select models with nicely shaped legs and feet and nicely manicured feet.  Lancome doesn't advertised makeup on ugly people.  Having said that, I have noticed the trend in advertising makeup/clothes/etc using "average" and even homely models.  Some people may prefer that but I'd still rather see glamorous models.

I am so sorry you are struggling. I hope you are able to regain some flexibility in your knee. I too have issues so I know how frustrating it can be.

@On It    If you think feet show age take a look at knees.   They head south just like our boobs.  LOL  It's never ending and part of the age process.

And elbows, too!

Years ago somebody asked my age and didn’t believe me because I used to look a lot younger than I was. Then she looked at my elbows and said OK I believe it 😄. (It’s not as rude as it might sound it, it was just a light conversation  and we all laughed).

@NicksmomESQ You gave me a good laugh this morning. Yeah, we never would look at a guy wearing sandals and say -- 'dang, his feet look old.'

Nope, it would just be a guy doing his own thing, not wasting hours of time, weekly, primping and pruning. And, his pals would never sit around comparing feet, when there were ribs and beer to consume.

@BlueFinch   I don't judge feet on toher men, but make sure DH's feet are reasonably "groomed".

Re: Feet Show Age

[ Edited ]

Yes, all body parts show age.  Didn't really need a thread with this title.  A title relative to foot care might have been a bit kinder.

I, for one, have a bad bunion on one foot.  Surgery is not recommended.  I can't do a darn thing for it with creams and lotions.  I treat my entire body, but with regard to the bunion, I pick my footware carefully, but that's about it.

I recall a co-worker making a comment to the effect that old women with bunions should not be permitted to wear sandles. She did not know that I had one (due to me wearing closed toe shoes) but I told her flat-out, I thought the comment was unkind in that those with less esthectially pleasing feet were supposed to shun sandles in 95 degree heat so as not to offend her sensitilities.

(I did not point out any of her physical flaws that were on displacy for the world to see - not my style.)

Do the math.

I'm 77 and my feet are about the only part of my body that has so far defied aging. Haven't even had a pedicure for eighteen months but I take of my toe nails and my heels (file every time I bath).
