Re: Favorite Method For Removing Facial Hair

I just ordered the 12/19 Emjoi TSV. But will it work on fuzz as well as actual hair? The fuzz is pretty long....

Re: Favorite Method For Removing Facial Hair

I have peach fuzz and a couple of lip hairs (the stubborn white ones). I use a Whizzit from As Seen on TV. I costs about 19.99 and runs on AAA batteries. I love it. Only the thick hairs sting a bit. The peach fuzz I don't feel anymore. I have had the same Whizzit for 5 years now. I did buy an extra one since I won't be without one but I still haven't had to use the new one.

Shaving w disposable razor. It's quick and easy. I had that peach fuzz on the side of my face and it was driving me nuts. Not anymore. I have very fair colored hair but it was noticeable to me, especially when putting on any powder.

Yes...I was nervous. But now...nope. It does not come back thicker and I have to 5 o'clock stubble.

Re: Favorite Method For Removing Facial Hair

Depilatories irritated my skin.

So did razors. I also don't like the way my facial hair looks growing back in after being shaved. The blunt ends are more noticeable than fine ends growing back in. And my hair grows fast so I had to remove it on a daily basis when shaving. But my skin was too irritated to allow for that.

Re: Favorite Method For Removing Facial Hair

Well, I just had my whole face waxed. It was painful and I'm ridiculously red. Glad I was able to find the it number for the December emjoi tsv. Can't wait to try it!

I'm a plucker, but hate it. I have light hairs on my upper lip and some dark single hairs on my chin. The cancer drug I had wrecked my adrenal system and now I have this problem. The worst part is that the pores are so small I end up with ingrown hairs. I'm so embarrassed about this.

I experienced the same thing, F1wild, and my male oncologist was rather dismissive, despite this being a significant issue to me. My female derm was much more understanding and helpful and prescribed Vaniqa, which is the answer! At first I applied [a very small amount] twice a day as directed, then after 6 - 8 mos. tapered off to once a day. It totally solved the problem, especially the ingrown hairs which looked like zits. I stopped using it a year or more ago and have only just noticed one recurrence, recently. I will definitely refill the Rx if I see more. I highly recommend you try this. HTH!

Thank you for this info. I remember looking into this for a patient of mine several years ago, never known I'd need it myself. I know there was something about it being metabolized in the liver, but my liver enzymes are good now. I will be looking into this tonight. Thank you again, WhateverLolaWants!

Another enthusiastic vote for the Emjoi eRase! My face sounds like yours. I got the fuzz as I aged (wall to wall) then when was using the LightStim I swear it made it a lot worse -- longer and more of it. The hair above my lip was stubbly -- grew back in dark, too.

I use the eRase from mid neck up to my cheekbones. I can't BELIEVE how my skin feels afterward. And no irritation like I'd get from a depilatory.

There was a learning curve -- like to go into the sideburns vertically, and grab onto my earlobe so it didn't get nipped, and how to do my lip well. And I found the lower speed works better on the fuzzy hair. I do have to tweeze a couple of chin hairs still, but that's okay.

I feel it coming back in the next day or two, but that's okay, too. I can go longer than I did with a depilitory -- it seems softer and finer.

I am so thrilled with this!

QVC has another one (I'll look up the name) that's supposed to deliver permanent results and works on light as well as dark hair. Watching the demo on air, it didn't look like it hurt like lasers do. I might look into it eventually, but for now anyway, the Emjoi is easy and I'm loving it.

ETA: Here it is, the Iluminage Elos -- pretty dismal reviews, though.

MarenSeattle, look into this carefully. I had ordered one of the permanent hair removers from QVC, but had to return it as it's not recommended for anyone who's had skin cancer...a little issue not mentioned in the presentation, yet CS knew. I was a bit ticked as this could have potential serious risk for many of us.
