Why not stay logged onto facebook on your home computer (if you have one) 24/7. They will figure out that you never log off since they know you aren't actually on there 24/7. Then no one will have a clue as to how long you are actually active.
I do that out of laziness. That way I can click to check FB a minute whenever without logging in or out.

If anyone is interested, it's on your phone right there on the very top of the chat screen and it shows the "gear " right next to it to click on or off. Problem solved. Thanks LadyBug! ??

In addition to the chat setting, there’s something everyone needs to check now and then.
In the upper right corner of the Facebook screen, click on the arrow to see a drop-down menu. Click on “Settings.” Then choose “Security” and look for the “Where You’re Logged In” section. Click on that. The only listing you should see is the session you’re currently logged into. If you see others, you need to click on “End Activity.”
These open, unattended sessions usually occur when you close the tab/browser or otherwise close out Facebook without logging out first. They leave your account open to hackers who browse Facebook, looking for these extra, unattended sessions. Personally, I always log out after using Facebook and I always recommend everyone do the same. (My background in IT security in hospitals makes me wary of leaving open sessions for any website, but Facebook in particular).
