I recently bought the Emjoi Tilt E-Rase, and I love it mostly. I still notice stubble though, so what am I doing wrong? What is your experience?

Hi, @Glittergal! I recently bought the Braun epilator/shaver and this is my experience. The first time inepilated, I did my legs each evening 3 nights in a row just to make sure I’d gotten all the hair. When it grew in, I did have hairs that came in under the very top layer of skin, which contributed to a stubbly feeling. That has since subsided as I’ve epilator more. I’m finding that the hair seems sparser but I also know it all doesn’t seem to grow back at the same rate, again resulting in a stubbly feeling. All this said, after epilating my legs don’t feel absolutely smooth like they are freshly shaved but, for me, that freshly shaved feeling doesn’t last long either. I’ve come to prefer epilating to shaving since I can make a quick run over my body (legs, underarms, bikini area) daily if I want to without the mess (and potential injuries) from shaving.

@Glittergal....I have experienced the same problem. I have tried epilating frequently, but still have stubble and have to use my shaver as well. A very disappointing purchase for me.

You may not be doing anything wrong per se. With epilating, you have to do it often in the beginning because hair doesn't all grow at the same rate. What you removed through epilation yesterday isn't the stubble you see today. That stubble is likely from a few days ago. The other thing with epilating is that the gadget won't catch hairs until they are a certain length. There alway seems to be some fine cleanup work, to get the hairs that are too short to catch. Over time, the amount of hair is supposed to decrease and eventually you won't need to epliate as often.

I haven't been over impressed either. Once heard Shawn say - you have to let your hairs grow out quite long so the grabbers....have something to grab. I don't want a mustache - - wouldn't buy another - - ever.

It takes time, but it's worth it. The stubble goes away. And the newer hairs are much softer when they grow in and take longer to show up. At the beginning you'll find that hairs pop up that had been dormant the first time you used the epilator. So you have to get those over the course of the first month. Then it gets much easier and nicer.
And you save so much money! No razor refills or wax or laser appointments.

Is it super painful at first? I have always wanted to try it, but kept hearing about how painful it is......Is it really that painful or just like a pulling/pinching effect? I understand everyone is different, but just your own personal opinion....Thanks!

@CANDLEQUEEN.....for me it was very painful, but only the very first time.

It's like tweezing your eyebrows really well. You know how if you grab an eyebrow hair just right in the tweezer and pull just right in the right direction, it doesn't hurt? The epilator mostly pulls like that. When it stings occasionally it's a light sting. The legs are the easiest. Other areas can get a bit more ouchy, so I'd start with legs and go slow when you venture elsewhere.
Over time, there's a lot less hair to epilate, so any slight pull or sting lets you know that it was worth your time to bother to epilate, so it kind of turns into a strangely positive signal.
Important: Don't try to epliate hair that is too grown in. Go by the instructions exactly on how long it should be. Just long enough to grab and no longer.

@Porcelain. Thank-you so much for your detailed answer. I appreciate it! I may just give it a try!
