I don't wear makeup often, but when I do, I apply eye shadow, mascara and typically a liner - not black, but a shade of brown or any other color that looks good with brown eyes.

I am 68 and my eyelids are not as "flexible" as they used to be so applying eye makeup in general is a little trickier.

Can I get some recommendations for a decent eye liner that won't smear or transfer to the bottom, easy application, and isn't super duper expensive?  My hair is gray now so I feel like I need a lift, maybe not a brown eye liner, but a different color that goes well with the gray hair and brown eyes.

Thanks for any suggestions.  So many brands out there.

My irises are hazel with spots of yellow, green, powder blue, and have a dark gray ring.

I use NYX "berry goth" eyeliner

I really like Laura Geller's INKredible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner. It goes on really smoothly and it stays on all day, without smudging. There are also a lot of colors.

@jellyBEAN

I have been pleased with NYX eyeliner...I like the liquid liner called NYX Professional Makeup EPIC INK LINER.

mine is black [it's the only one I have tried]

Reasonably priced, and there are many shades other than black to try. There is a brown. I have to sing the praises of NYX because they carry lots of choices of vegan options

This one does not transfer or smudge for me.

I am nearly 73 and my lids are not 'smooth" any longer.  So what I do is use a fine shadow brush, swipe it over the product, then over my lashline/lid and it creates a much softer look.  I LOVE Skinn smudge sticks but I believe they are no longer available.  I also use a dark shadow sometimes.  I have dark brown eyes and light olive skin.  Black is too harsh but any other color works for me.

I am using Mallys gel liners--have Laura Gellers big fat liners too--love the colors, but find the gel liners go on very smoothly. I cannot get the hang for the liquid liners tho---Am 71--for a few more weeks🤨--and my lids are doing fine. I usually line the waterline top and bottom. Haven't used LG liners as I thought they were making my eyes water--I have at least 8 of them all in different colors. Hate to toss them all so maybe will try them again.

Well I did try LG eyeliners again, yesterday and they made my eyes water and burn and so--prob will toss the bunch of them. Dang it--her colors are so nice and I paid prob close to $60--qvcs price---but not going to wear them again. Dang it!!!!

I also use the NYX perncils, but only the retractable pencils, I am 73 with green/hazel eyes, I use most all the shades except for the black, too harsh for me. One fave is Truffle Diamond, a greyish/brown.  I use them mainly on the bottom rims.  I dont think Berry Goth is retractable and needs sharpening.

Yeah, one more big seller and he quits selling them. Go figure.

Another vote for Laura Geller's INKcredibile eye liners.  They stay on and apply easily and are waterproof in case your eyes get watery.  With her weekly, almost daily sales, you can get these at drugstore prices.  Think I got an email today saying she's having a 50% off sale.
