What?

ETA: I saw your response on the other thread and now think I may understand your posting this.

My first thought about the connection to the skit was really? This was a well respected man with a thriving practice and lots of clients. In that business I cannot imagine anyone getting upset enough to hang themselves over a skit. People make fun of stars and bad plastic surgery all the time. I think he may have had other things going on to be deeply depressed that we may not know about and ultimately led to this.

I'm done with P.C. Just say what you mean and mean what you say. It's easier.

Martin Short's character does bear an uncanny likeness to Dr. Brandt. How unfortunate that it upset him.

Macy: Thanks for circling back. Yeah, he probably was harboring a lot of demons. It wasn't 'the show'. I feel sorry the creators/producers/actors of this show have to live with the association the media has forced upon us.

Most celebrities, and all that implies, would look @ a caricature of themselves and, if they have a healthy, positive mindset, would be flattered. Caricatures are the bread & butter of many Hollywood shows that have been out for decades. Why throw this show under the bus?

it's being reported that he hanged himself. devastating to think how he must have felt. such pain.

I wonder how they know this was the reason? Unless, of course, he left a suicide note stating such, otherwise it is all just speculation. Usually it isn't one specific thing with people who are clinically depressed.

I think this is extremely sad for all mentioned here. To name Tina and Martin as the cause of this terribly unfortunate death is unfair IMO.

All that knew Dr Brandt seemed to love and admire him for many reasons.

I just wish that all this over done botox, fillers, and plastic surgery would go away.

How incredibly tragic. He was still so young at 65. I've never used his products myself, but they seem to be popular. His publicist apparently didn't want to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding his death but denied that it was from suicide.

Regardless, I wanted to provide a toll-free 24/7 helpline for those who are feeling suicidal:

1-800-273-TALK (8255).

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention may also have a local support group for the
"Survivors of Suicide" (friends and family), too:

helping1, I just wanted to say how very kind of you it was to post this helpful information. If it helps one person it was so worthwhile. Thank you!!!

This is incredibly sad news to hear. I use some of his products and really like them. I listened to his Sirius radio program all the time.....he was such a hoot!!! For quite awhile his show has not been on. I didn't know if it had been moved to a different time slot, or if it had been cancelled. Seems the later may be the case now. In my area it aired on Saturdays at noon. His program was interesting, he gave out great information, and it was just a lot of fun to listen to. I can still hear his crazy laugh. It makes me smile right now.

So very sad.

pupwhipped.....yes, it is very sad.

BTW, I love your nic!!!!!! It's hilarious. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I think it is malicious for anyone to connect a man's death with a TV spoof. That is incredibly cruel to the actors.

If he did indeed commit suicide, I'm sure that it was from a build-up of many, many demons in his life. A healthy person does not take his life because of one parody; in fact, as another poster suggested, most would take it in stride and maybe even enjoy the idea of such fame.
