Does dry shampoo dry out your hair?

I have an oily scalp and dry hair and use the Cucumber Aloe CC. I can go only 2 days till I have to cleanse my hair again. I wonder if Chaz would ever be able to create a dry shampoo for in between times.

I would pay so much money for this!

Dry shampoo dries the heck out of my hair - I mean it's still relatively soft but man does it feel unpleasant compared to freshly cleansed hair.

I found that using less leave-ins when i shampoo then the dry shampoo works better and less drying.

I never would've thought of this - thanks for the tip!

Maybe it's because the dry shampoo sits on top of the products you used after washing?

I think it depends on what ingredients are in the dry shampoo you are using. There are so many different kinds out there and some have great ingredients that I can't see would dry your hair out. Some contain SD alcohol (a drying type alcohol), especially those that are in aerosol form, so yes, those can be drying over time.

Re: Does dry shampoo dry out your hair?

I usually use dry shampoo twice a week. I've noticed, though, that since I use oils on my scalp on other days, I don't need the dry shampoo as much. I kind of have a routine, and stick with it every week, as much as possible. The night before I go to the gym in the am (3 times a week, and I sweat a TON), I apply oils. The other days I usually walk and/or do Pilates, so I'm not as sweaty, and I use dry shampoo those days. I don't like using dry shampoo two days in a row. My hair just looks and feels funky then. Smiley Happy HTH!

I have tried dry shampoos in the past but never found any that I liked. I would imagine that if Wen sold a dry shampoo product that I would try it.

I only spray my roots when I use dry shampoo so I don't notice it being drying to my hair, but it does irritate my scalp.

Yes, I find them to be drying. If you need help with an oily scalp, you can try two things:

1) Oil treatments for the scalp to balance the oils and curb overproduction

2) Cornstarch. It's white and can show easily, but you can try adding some cornstartch to your roots before you go to bed at night. I find that using it before bed leans it absorbs excess oils at night and doesn't leave me so powdery in the morning.

Re: Does dry shampoo dry out your hair?

I've used dry shampoo for years and love how it extends the time between shampoos.

Now I'm using a dry shampoo the color of my hair and it also covers my roots and extends the time between visits to my colorist.
