Re: Disappointing Beauty Box

Ipsy used to be called My Glam. I was with them in the beginning. The products were much better then.

Now, I only subscribe to Birchbox. After you receive your points, it only costs $5.

My October Birchbox:

Mally High Shine Liquid Lipstick in the color Petal to the Metal (just 1, I took it out of the box so you can see the color).
ModelCo - POWERLASH High Impact mascara (full size).
Dr. Brandt - pores no more vacuum cleaner.
Essential Elements - Wake Up Rosemary Shower Gel.
Harvey Prince - Petaly Noir fragrance sample.

This actually looks like a nice box. I've been burned too many times and not sure I want to sign up for another. Enjoy all your goodies!

Re: Disappointing Beauty Box

I have signed up for Ipsy, birchbox and the allure beauty box. So far I am okay with what i have gotten in all of them. Will wait out the rest of the year and see how the next two installments are and figure out if i will continue for 2015.

Jordan, that's okay, I mix stuff up constantly!

SAM, I think the Walmart box is totally worth it too. One thing though. Did anyone get a defective deodorant? Mine didn't rise when turned (and I use stick so I know how to do it). It eventually backed out from the bottom and now I can't use it at all, wanted to try it, too. Oh well, not the end of the world. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} Not sure when the next box will be here but can't wait.

I still get IPSY but cancelled Blush. Blush just sent stuff I'd never use, although it's a good deal if you do, and the last time was the last straw.

can you exchange the deodorant at Walmart?

Mary, I did exchange it. Felt sort of bad doing it, but it was defective and the most expensive item in the box.

Yeah, for (actually) $5 I can't complain. With the bonus offers, extra points, and discounts it's worth it to me. Plus the other $5 per month goes into my account so I have that saved to put toward an order. I like that a lot.

Oh good. No item should be defective. No matter the value.

Re: Disappointing Beauty Box

I've tried beauty test tube, Birchbox and the mystery box from Blush. I never end up using all the products. Birchbox was especially off - you fill out a survey of preferences, but it didn't seem that made any difference on what they sent. Think of it this way - You could take the $120 (or $300) a year and buy things you actually want and will use.

Re: Disappointing Beauty Box

The only one I get is the Walmart box. The first one with the full size Secret deodorant was well worth the $5. That's about all I'm willing to invest in one of these subscriptions and the Walmart box is quarterly rather than monthly. I agree with pas4116. I'd rather spend the money on things I know I will use.
