Any other posters on this board that suffer from PCOS? I am really bummed about my diagnosis, but focused on doing everything I can to make the best of the situation. Fortunately, I have had more mild symptoms and to my surprise, have managed to stay thin over the years rather than gaining a lot of weight like the "typical" PCOS woman.
I do not have major hair loss, but I am starting to see some hair thinning and it is really bothering me. What do you all use to keep your hair looking great? Is WEN a good solution or have you all tried something else?
Thanks

Hello, LolaLulu12 and welcome.
I'm sorry for the diagnoses you got. May I ask what PCOS is?
My hair's fine, but I can recommend products that may help. Nick Chavez makes products called Plump 'N Thick Shampoo and Conditioner, Advanced Plump 'N Thick Shampoo and Conditioner and Advanced Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner with Expansion Technology. I haven't used these, but perhaps they'll help you. There's a picture at the bottom of what they look like.
I'm sure other ladies will be in here with some good suggestions, too.
Hope you find something that works well for you.

For what it's worth: Castor Oil. A friend told me someone recommended this to her for her thinning eyebrows. I looked it up on Amazon and read the many reviews. People claim they have used it to thicken their hair. Many also stated they put a little on with body moisturizer for dry skin. We both recently got a bottle (apx $10). But, can't say yet if it's effective or not, but it might be worth a try.

My daughter has this and sadly, had to have her ovaries removed (90 percent of them) at 18 as a result. The hormonal effect is incredible. She likes Nexus Split End Therapy shampoo. Her hair is once again long and full. Took a while. it just like what happens after nursing and pregnancy to some people. It happened to me, too.

Of course ask your doctor before trying this but I know if you eat a diet too low in fat it can have a negative effect on hair and nails. My mom went on a VERY low fat diet decades ago and started losing hair in clumps. Just think it is worth mentioning in case you are on a low fat diet.

I'm wondering if taking biotin would help. I've been taking it for a few years now as a result of chemo that made me lose my hair. After it grew back it was a different beast--thin, fine and then from taking tamoxifen it is also thinning, a side effect. Biotin is not an over night remedy. Check with your doc of course. Lots of people say it doesn't work for them. It has worked for me tho. As for using Wen--there is alot of stories about hair loss from this product. Check it out.

I use wen and have had great results. Just curious, but did your dr also check your thyroid levels? My understanding is thyroid issues are commonly seen in pcos patients.
My daughter has been diagnosed with PCOS and also hypothyroidism.
However, she has SO MUCH HAIR that she hates it! It is very thick and wavy.

I have twice gone on a very restricted diet.
About 3 months into it, I started losing a LOT of hair, both times.
Good news is it does come back after you end the severe calorie restriction.
