Detangling Spray Recommendations

Hi!

My 11 year old daughter has very, very, knotty curly/wavy hair (not tight curls). The only time is it actually soft with no tangles is after her shower. The next day, it is back to full of knots. Every morning, I help her brush out the knots with detangling sprays, recently using either Suave for Kids, No more tears by J and J, or Pantene. None of these work that great, and because I need so much spray, her curls come out and I am left with semi straight flat hair. When here hair is knot free and healthy curls, it is so nice, but this is so rare. Very frustrating for her and me. Does anyone have some other products to try for her? Again, this would be to use on her dry hair for the next few days after she washes her hair.

Thank you!Smile

Re: Detangling Spray Recommendations

There's a detangler in the WEN Kids line. Look it up here on QVC and there's a video of how to use it. If I remember correctly, Chaz has a child model or two with curly hair.

I was a hair colorist for years before going into skin care and I always made my own. I used my favorite conditioner and added a couple of tablespoons to bottle water shook it really good and added that to a spray bottle.

Carol's Daughter Anti-Breakage Spray works really well. And it's for wavy hair all the way to super curly. It's pricey, but sometimes HSN has a good deal going, and a bottle lasts a long time. I use it after I wash my hair before I comb, and my comb glides right through. I'm pretty sure it's for refreshing too, not just after you wash.

I highly recommend Nick Chavez ""Wet or Dry Conditioning Spray"". My hair is baby fine & has natural curl. I don't use conditioner because it makes my hair flat. Nick's product does not. It makes it soft & it only takes a very small amount to detangle. I use it on both dry hair and wet hair. I really love this stuff!

P.S. I bought my Nick Chavez "Wet or Dry conditioning spray" from the Q originally. Unless I'm overlooking it, they no longer have it in stock. It had great reviews (that's why I tried it). I can't imagine why they would stop carrying it. You can also get it at Ulta.

it's a 10, and wen revitalizing mist (I have been using the 613, but also like the sam scent) It works well and helps with fly aways

Re: Detangling Spray Recommendations

You may want to check out the naturallycurly.com site and their CurlTalk forums.

Once you finish detangling and her hair is still damp, you can also do some finger twists to help the curls reform. This blog entry (not mine) has a video at the bottom where the woman demonstrates what I mean. She does it on clean wet hair, but you can also do it on damp hair the next day.
