Re: DO YOU PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON STANDING OR SITTING IN A VANITY CHAIR?

@persiflage

Me too, on both accounts Smiley Happy  When I was 14 my parents built a new house (300yds from where I live now).  My brother and I could do our own bathroom colors, etc.  I had a white countertop and a Kohler apple green sink and green apple wallpaper.  I don't remember the floor.  Oh I do too!  It was a solid high gloss sheet vinyl in green  apple.  Frank's was the same, only red whereas mine was green apple .  I sat on the toilet (sideways).  My makeup mirror was on the vanity.  Bedroom was green apple and yellow.

Wow - I could never be anywhere by 9 am if I woke up at 8:15!

I could make it to the kitchen by 9 lol.  If I know I'm going somewhere the next day and need to wash my hair, I try to do it the night before.  I wish there were "night owl" business hours.

Re: DO YOU PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON STANDING OR SITTING IN A VANITY CHAIR?

I put my makeup on while sitting cross legged on my bed with all of my makeup in  a giant retro 1980's reissue caboodle.  I watch fun Yuotube videos while I do my makeup sitting down and I hold a hand mirror up to my face.  Someday I hope to buy an antique vanity with a mirror!  Here's my Caboodle- I love it so much Smiley Very Happy  Its the giant Caboodles on the go girl in Seafoam and Lavender vintage case on Amazon if anyone's interested!

I don't need it but it's beautiful. My daughter had one like it or maybe it was pink and purple. Wow, sitting cross-legged on the bed.. those days are probably over for me.  I know it's something most people don't even think about. I'll ask my physical therapist tomorrow if he thinks I'll ever be that flexible in the knees again.

Standing. I always have.  Since I sit at a desk 8-12 hours a day, I enjoy standing to put on my make-up.

Re: DO YOU PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON STANDING OR SITTING IN A VANITY CHAIR?

@monicakm Isn't it a pretty color scheme?  Thank you Smiley Happy, I really like my my Caboodle and I also have a pink and purple one like your daughter had.  I love to use my main gaint Caboodle for my makeup and then then I have another Caboodle that I use to put my watercolor painting supplies: paint brushes and pencils on the topmost inner tray and my watercolor pad of paper and my watercolor paints on the lower compartment.

    I think my flexible knees are in part due to my powdered Collagen Hydrolysate by Swanson that I take daily.  I tore out my outer third of my miniscus in my right knee knee big time last summer doing leg presses of 40 reps of 350 pounds a few times a week in addition to my weightlifting routine.  I had a lot of knee pain for months after that whenever I walked and I completely repaired my knee over the past 3 months thanks to taking collagen hydrolysate every morning along with stretching, doing my favorite 80's aerobics VHS exercise tapes and weightlifting- and never maxing out my goals on that leg press ever again.   I also make sure to eat a lot of collagen in my diet with chicken, fish, dairy, berries etc to help my knee that was injured.  I'm glad that you have a great physical therapist- they really help people a lot and its such a caring profession! Flexibility comes and goes- I was a varsity wrestler in high school and I was super flexible and now I'm decently flexible in exercise, but nothing compared to my wrestling days. Smiley Happy

I think I feel insignificant.  I had to call in reinforcement tonight just to open a box of Tide laundry detergent.  Broke a nail in the process 😩

Re: DO YOU PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON STANDING OR SITTING IN A VANITY CHAIR?

My Mother taught me to iron sitting down (she had broken capillaries in her legs and wanted me to avoid them -- didn't help).  She must have known this Winston Churchill quote:  Winston Churchill, sir, to what do you attribute your success in life? ' and he said without hesitating: 'Economy of effort. Never stand up when you can sit down, and never sit down when you can lie down. ' And he then got into his limo.”  Nevertheless, I have always followed Churchill's advice, including putting on makeup.

I stand at the bathroom mirror.  I have a magnifying mirror also which is attached to the mirror in the bathroom.  This has the best natural light.

Re: DO YOU PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON STANDING OR SITTING IN A VANITY CHAIR?

I do my skincare at the sink where everything is kept in the medicine cabinet or in a wire basket next to the double sink counter.

When everything's dry ( I have a cute little pink handheld fan), I sit at my vanity to do makeup...even if my 5 minute face. That's where the makeup/brushes/pencils are stored in upper cabinets and drawers on either side of my chair. I'm lucky to have built a quite long counter with a small TV on the end (DH likes to watch news while shaving, etc. ) and I may catch the end of a movie while taking a bath.
