Cruelty Free Cosmetics and China

DD recently bought a Laura Geller Baked eyeshadow palette. I love Baked eyeshadows, but I still have plenty from years past. Made in Italy and baked on tiles.

So I was surprised when I saw this palette was made in China. That is OK with me, but what is not OK is animal testing!

I had to do some research. Yes, LG is still cruelty free according to the Cruelty- Free Kitty. But how can that be when the products are made in China?

I read an article that explained how that could happen. Popular cosmetic companies DO have testers in Chinese department stores, but if someone wants to buy the product she/he has to order it online. That's how they can guarantee no testing on animals!   Smiley Happy

IDK @Snowpuppy . I do know some of the brands are LG, IT, and Charlotte Tilbury.

@beach-mom

Hi ! I choose to go cruelty free about 9 years ago . Most of China's animal testing policy has to do with cosmetic/skin care coming into their country ,not so much with the prodcuts they manufacture  .There is an article on veganfoodandliving.com , stating that as of May 1 2021 China removed animal testing on "generasl products". According to the article those woud be products that don't make any "anti aging , anti acne or skin lightening claims . Products like shampoos, makeup and lotions can be under that .

perhaps it is just the plastic pallete itself that is made in China?

My research shows baked is still made in Italy....but maybe the packaging is what is from China?

It's not the components made in China.  LG products are made all over the world, including China and Italy.

Does that mean it's no longer painstakingly baked in terra cotta pans?

Re: Cruelty Free Cosmetics and China

LG baked products are made in Italy, that what it says on her products, and she has also said it. I have some of her other products and it says made in Korea.

I've been wondering if it cosmetics are made in china?
