I've been wearing contacts for over 40 years, and always rinse the case in water. That's early in the morning. It's dry when I put the lenses back in at night.

Tell your eye doctor that you do that and prepare for the tongue lashing you will get!

I use Pure Moist. Have never used water. I have worn contacts for fifty years without a problem starting with hard contacts then gas permeable and finally soft contacts. You may need to use a product like systane to add more moisture to your eyes. That may offer more comfort. Do you use the daily disposable contacts or fifteen day disposables the kind you can sleep in? I use the fifteen day disposables with extended comfort by Coopervision. Systane made a big difference in hydrating my eyes and greater comfort. Never used water but was always careful to follow instructions. An eye infection is too scary to mess with. I suffer from allergies and have to be very careful to avoid any problems. The Systane helps with that too.

I use the Coopervision spheres which are the two week wear. I can't wear some lens, just don't agree with my eyes. Systane was recommended to me for my dry eyes as it works with contact lens.

I wore contacts for over twenty years and always rinsed my cases with hot water, then allowed to air dry. Of course, we've always had "well water", not tap water from a municipal source.

I will second the recommendation of the poster who recommended Clear Care. It was originally recommended by my ophthalmologist when I was having problems with allergies and contacts were almost impossible to wear. I started using that cleanser nightly and it made a world of difference!

When I was a kid, I saw a news story about a women who used water instead of saline to save money. The water had a bacteria that ate through her eye and blinded her.

This was almost 40 years ago and I still remember it.

Get your flu shot...because I didn't.

My eye doctor told me to never rinse my case with water. And to replace the case every 3 months.

I am soooo happy I changed to Clear Care! What a huge difference from the Alcon Opti-Express in having clean/clean lenses. But I still use Opti to rinse the contacts in the a.m. before I put them in.

Anyway, I love that cleaning system!

I would explicitly follow the directions on the Pure Moist, if that's what you're going to use.
