I used to buy the big tubs from Costco not just for the cashews but because I liked to keep the plastic containers to store other things.  Of course.

To avoid devouring a jar of cashews in one sitting (easy thing to do -- they're better than potato chips), I've started buying trail mix at Sprouts that has cashews in it, but also has enough of the other ingredients (nuts, seeds, dried fruit) to allow me to enjoy and appreciate the cashew but not overdose on it.

When Sprouts' bulk mixes go on sale, I stock up.  BH even sprinkles them on his salads.

Speaking of Costco...

I mentioned the run on bottled water and toilet paper as seen here on the forum.  BH rolled his eyes at me.

We hadn't been at Costco for a while so I suggested we check this out.  He ended up going there just to pick up some fish and green beans.  The store hadn't yet opened but the parking lot was full and a large crowd had assembled near the entrance.

Once inside, BH noticed that shoppers skipped the regular carts and went for the pallets on wheels.  There was no toilet paper in the warehouse and people were hunting down Costco associates to ask about the next shipment.

What was left of the bottled water was being wheeled to the check-out lines.  BH got behind a guy who was explaining to the cashier that he had been stockpiling bottled water and toilet paper.

And body bags.

BH rolled his eyes at the kid boxing up the guy's purchases, and the kid rolled his eyes at BH.

Body bags.  It's 1350 again.  Bring out your dead!

Good morning compacters, well, I broke my "no-buy" that I have had this year. I went through my entire wardrobe to get ready for spring and took out 8 items that I don't want any more from my winter wardrobe and 2 items from last summer. I cull after each season. The 2 items for summer were in my maybe pile.

I noted a few things that needed to be replaced and a couple that I wanted. So, Talbots has 30% off so I put an order in for $200. 

What I ordered and why:

1. A white popover to replace one that has a permanent tea stain on it. I wear this kind of top a lot. It is one of the top 20% of my wardrobe.

2. Navy and white Pima cotton bateau neck top. The LL Bean one I have is navy and cream and it too heavy for warmer weather. 

3. Mint Green Pima cotton bateau neck top. I want to add this fresh color into my wardrobe for summer to brighten up several 24/7 pants from Isaac.

4. Crosshatch linen pintuck popover in pink. I wanted something similar to this last year, but I was out of luck they sold out fast! I want to add a rose pink into my summer wardrobe to replace the Fushia pink I used to wear. I love linen. I find it elegant and cool in the heat. Wrinkles? No worrries for me. It's part of the deal.

5. Pink paisley long sleeve button up. I saw this in January's catalog and fell instantly in love. I am a paisley print person. It is my favorite print. I don't wear prints very much because I am only 5 feet tall and prints can overwhelm me, but this top is right up my alley. I will wear it with white Isaac 24/7 with the sleeves rolled up and a jean jacket.

6. Mint green textured open cardigan from LL Bean for a transition piece for spring and in air condition in summer.

So, this is my wardrobe update. I don't need any shoes or sandals for summer or bathing suits. I do need a new summer PJ set. I feel proud of myself that I am getting smarter about my shopping. Before three years ago when I discovered the idea of minimal wardrobes and capsule wardrobes I had a little bit of everything that did not go together. I just bought things on the clearance rack, but I had "nothing to wear"--together that is.

Since then, I bought a book called The Curated Closet and started following capsule wardrobe bloggers to get a grip on wardrobe management. I still have a lot of clothes, more than I need, I know that, but at least all of it goes together. I simply cannot live with a small capsule wardrobe of a small number of items. It is just not in my personality, but I have learned that I can buy more intelligently and with purpose. 

PS--I might not comment all of the time, but I follow this thread religiously and appreciate all of you and your struggles with different aspects of "too much."

See, what you have is a wardrobe.  Most of us think we have a wardrobe, but what we really have is a bunch of clothes in closets and drawers.

The last time I had a wardrobe was in junior high and high school.  That was when my sister saw me as a paper doll and dressed me as such.  She had great taste and chose the right colors, fabrics and styles for me.

Something that I could never quite do for myself.  I started shopping for my fantasy selves and never stopped.

The pieces you describe sound fabulous.  You will wear them and you'll look and feel fabulous.  That is something I can aspire to but may never achieve.

At least I broke the denim habit after 40+ years.  But getting me out of sweatshirts will take an act of Congress.

I am jealous.

And I'm so glad you're part ot the Pact.

Well anyway, I am going to change some of our front yard land escaping this year and put in a veggie garden this year.
Biggest thing is having that beautiful willow tree trimmed up. That will be done by professionals. Biggest globe willow I have ever seen!
I can't wait till it reaches the 70 degree mark! I am actually excited! I do love Spring!

Ah yes, the guilt.  When it first became apparent that my mother needed some sort of help, I was going round and round about what to do.  My sisters lived out of state and were prepared to put her in assisted living, without, what appeared to me, a second thought or any feeling of remorse.  My mother didn't want to burden us, but she also didn't want to leave her home.  I was willing to care for her in her home, but I didn't want to infringe on the OG's life either.  He told me something that stuck with me ever since:  "Do whatever you feel is necessary so that after she's gone you won't feel guilty."  

Unfortunately, there often comes a time that no matter what you do (or don't do) you end up feeling some guilt.  It's something that's an individual call and that's different for each of us.  And when you look back after the fact, you'll always find something that you think you should have done differently.  But you can only do the best you can at the time.  ❤️

Landscaping!  Oh my!  You are ambitious!  But getting outside and grubbing in the dirt is a great way to relieve that stress you're under.  

That's great news that Eros is fitting in so well.  But I think perhaps he's the lucky one...😺

It sounds like you have a wardrobe plan.  I think what we're all striving for here is not necessarily only having the bare minimum, it's more like using and being happy with what we do have.  

All of us here are at different stages of life and have different lifestyles, wants and needs.  If you're happy with what you bought, that's all that matters.  And you clearly have thought it through.  It's the nilly-willy mindless spur-of-the-moment over-purchasing that we later regret.

It sounds like you'll be decked out for spring!  And I'm sure you'll have fun trying everything on with all your other clothes.  Enjoy!👍

I'm almost there myself.  But the immune suppressants are definitely a minus for you, so I can see why you'd be concerned--about catching anything, frankly.

I do think some form of this is bound to catch up with most of us.  Just like most of us get colds and flu from time to time.  I just am trying to be careful when I'm out, but I do that anyway this time of year with everyone coughing and sneezing.  If we can just hold off until they get a better idea of how to deal with this, I don't think it will be any more of a problem than the flu, which can be dangerous to those with compromised immune systems as well.  Just remember that the majority of those that get this end up fine.  Even the ones that end up in the hospital.  Some people only have minor symptoms.
