I work in a psych hospital and sometimes I think I'm the only person who isn't on psych meds.  And I'm talking about the staff! Woman LOL

Oh, don't get me started!  It's why the government created HIPAA!

It's a very popular item and the only reason I didn't pick up a few is that I already have similar colors.

That, and Walgreens would have sent them to me pulverized. Woman Wink

Retirement.  Be careful what you wish for.

I finally was able to submit both of our retirement applications online to Social Security last week.  Not that we wanted to, we had no choice in the matter.

DH is still too ill to go back to work (and he wants to) and I can't work because I'm taking care of him 24/7.  DH's disability payments through his employer end next month and we are not independently wealthy.  We live in a wealthy resort town but live in the poor part of town.  We both planned to work until we were 70 in order to get the maximum benefits from SS (DH is 68, I'm 62).  Hah.  That isn't working out like we planned.  And our savings took a hit last year with $40,000 in medical expenses and that's with insurance!  His medical claims totaled $1.3 million dollars last year.  It boggles the mind and scare the pants off me.

I'm coming to the conclusion that these cancer treatment centers are a racket to make money off the misery and fear of people diagnosed with cancer.

Unintended (and unexpected) consequences.

When my OG refused heart surgery, it never occurred to me that was the beginning of the end.  Even when the cardiologist said he had only 15% heart function, it never dawned on me he wouldn’t recover.  After all, he’d always done so in the past, why not now?

We always both had said that we wouldn’t go for heroic measures, so I wasn’t really surprised that he didn’t do the surgery.  But one of his reasons was financial.  He only had Medicare—no supplemental insurance—so we would have had some pretty high out of pocket expense.  He didn’t want me to be left with money problems.  But now, it kind of leaves me miffed at times.  We could have worked it out.  But, it is what it is.
