Now that is an oxymoron if I ever saw one!
Mine would have had that outfit shredded before I could have focused the camera!

Got rid of a few more items by donating them to my church bazaar yesterday including a wooden rocking chair and a large wooden DVD storage cabinet plus some smaller odds and ends. We only brought two items home, a clock radio and a very large old radio/cassette player, the large "boom box" type that we used to have back in the 80's. Both hubby and kids wanted it, even though we absolutely didn't need it. All in all though I'm pretty happy because we usually bring more than that back home so we at least ended up ahead this year![]()
Actually as I was skimmimg briefly thru the house I wasn't really finding a whole lot that I wanted to get rid of. I've done so much purging over the years that we're really getting down to where there's not a ton left to go. I'm sure I will stumble on items here and there that I will donate over time, but it's nothing like before when I was donating bag upon bag of items. I'm pretty pleased![]()

I realized I didn't buy that many clothes this summer,
couple of jeans and some tops from TJ/M.
am proud of that,

That's an accomplishment because there's always that urge to splurge when the seasons change. Sometimes we only need a couple things to "freshen up" a seasonal wardrobe. My summer wardrobe needs to be burned and buried in landfill.
Maybe if I get rid of all those shirts I've had since the '80s, I might actually get some use out of those linen blend jumpers I collected.
Do you think the day will come when we'll dress according to our current stage in life?

This is impressive. And it's my goal. It's even more of a goal for Better-half. He's on a mission to "get it outta here!" Unfortunately, we're not on the same schedule. I don't feel it's imperative to get the wall unit out of the house but I can tell that its very presence makes him hate it that much more.
He isn't "attached" to anything. To him it's just "stuff." On one level, I know that. On another, I know that it's my stuff.
I have a soft spot for clocks and radios. And clock radios. I got a white "modern" clock radio for Christmas in 1971 and had it all through junior high, high school, college and post-college. I'm pretty sure I left it in California in 1995, but there are a few boxes I still haven't unpacked...
Again, I was attached to it. I used to listen to Dr. Don Rose on San Francisco AM in high school and then talk radio on AM after college. It was a dependable radio.
I love radio. I have two old "boom boxes," too, and I keep one in the bathroom so I can listen while I get ready for the day. I want to know what the traffic will be like, I want to know if something's going on. And I can't say enough about the value of a battery-operated radio. After the Loma Prieta quake in '89 and we lost power, I had a radio. When I worked at an arts organization I had a radio in my office and heard the bosque was on fire and that my executive director's new neighborhood was in danger. Her dogs were at home. I ran down the hall to her office and told her to grab her purse and get home before they closed the roads. She got there just in time.
If I had my way I'd have a clock and a radio in every room in the house. Oh, wait. I think I do.
Anyway, I wouldn't fret about your "new" items. They're absolutely practical.

Good grief. Yesterday at this time it was dark. I guess I could get off the stick and take the dog out.
You see, I have something important to do and I'm procrastinating. Big time. Something I really need to work on.
But maybe I'll have another cup of tea first.

Ah yes, famous last words...”if only”...
Hey, one save because you’re tired is still a save. I do that with my HEP. I feel bad so I can manage to get home from the grocery store without buying any junk food. But by the time the next grocery trip rolls around I’m feeling so much better from eating clean that, you guessed it, I buy “just a little bit” of something I shouldn’t.
And then, well, you can guess the rest.

Rolling on the floor!!!!! EXACTLY!!!!! That little something is a b$tch. Down the slippery slope we go.

Instead, I am going to put my energy in finding comfortable dress shoes for work. I dont find many dressy comfortable pumps. I think they forgot how to make these and I am not willing to pay 300 bucks on a pair either. Maybe it is just my feet.
Where is it written that you have to wear a pump to work? Do you have to wear skirts, too?
I earned two nursing degrees in the last few years just so I could wear pajamas and slippers to work. You think I would've been a nurse if I had to wear that tight white uniform and white hose?
My closets are full of clothes and shoes and accessories that I bought when I worked in a corporate office environment. Many of these items have never been worn.
The first thing that gets rounded up when I tackle the closets will be skirts.
Don't get me wrong -- I'm not anti-skirt. But I'm old school and if I'm going to wear a skirt, I'm going to wear stockings and a heel.
But if I can avoid it I will.
No, it is not written, We actually laxed quite a bit to Business Casual. I just have a closet full of dresses and skirts I cannot wear 1. because of the extra lbs that found me and 2. because I got rid of all uncomfortable shoes at one point. And, like you, I am old school myself, I need to wear stockings and heels with my dresses. But the dresses I can get away with will help me through the doldrum I am feeling around the way I am dressing. Feels like I have been wearing a certain "uniform" for a few years now. I dont wear the old style stockings anymore. I wear mostly tights but not the thick type. These are a little bit thicker than stockings and are comfortable. I dont think I could wear regular stockings any longer. I still like to wear dresses and skirts but I only wear them to work, at home I am a pants girl. I never put on a skirt to go shopping.
But, I totally know what you mean, if you dont have to. If it wasnt for work, I would donate most of mine.

After wearing cheap athletic shoes and being on my feet for 12 hours working as a tech, I gave in and bought "real" shoes. When your feet hurt, your whole body hurts.
Alegria sells heels, wedges and pumps, too. Alegriashoeshopdotcom.
I agree, when my feet hurt I am miserable. One of the reason I got rid of most of my collection at one point. I just havent found a pair I am willing to pay a lot for yet. I have looked at Alegrias before and didnt see a pair that I thought wouldnt make my foot look large. My feet are on the larger side and I am always careful of what shoes I buy.
Last year, I did buy two ankle boots which I love and they were on the expensive side, however, I havent found a heel yet that I am willing to pay a lot of money for. For some reason it is harder for me to spend a lot on the heels than boots. Weird, I know.
