I am not buying any plants this year. From the distance, those nice silk flowers look read and they do not require vigilance in maintaining them despite what the growers say. I decided last year that I would try again and had mixed results.

I work as a sub so all these snow days are hurting me financially. Right now, I'm ready for better weather. I'm fighting the urge to boost my morale and get rid of winter blahs by buying. I will resist. We had two days of closure last January because of weather. We are now up to five days. The legislature passed a law that goes into effect next year which states schools can open as early as August 1 and close June 30 to ensure all 180 days of instruction are scheduled. That leaves July as the only month anyone can really plan a vacation.

Mid January progress report: I actually finished off a jar of M Asam reservatol cream and the night serum, both from a today's special several years ago, tossed a few bottles of Joan Rivers' nail polish that were almost as old as she is, and gave away a LG liquid lipstick that was way too bright for me.

A new nail polish color and a couple of very cute journals stayed on the store shelves, and the new Linea jacket was not ordered. 0ver 20 jackets in the closet is enough.

I must confess I did order some of LG's whipped blush from Haute Look, as it is quite pale, the perfect color, is being discontinued, and I was able to use a $10 credit before it expired.

And, I find that I must add yard stuff, seeds, bulbs and all things flowers to my 'no buy' list. There are still bulbs awaiting planting from several years ago.

Why do we do this? We get so excited about a new project and we run out and buy all the components, then never actually do the project we were so excited about. Is it just another excuse to go shopping? I especially love the projects that involve buying things to help us organize all the items we've collected, but then we never use the organizers to organize it all.

Lmbo, so true. I do think it's an excuse, at least that is the only thing I can come up with. the more I declutter the more I find my project stuff. I just found a box of color tapes when I came up with an idea of making my own hula hoops after buying two that cost me 100bucks and that was my latest obsession. I thought I can make these myself and it will be my new hobby. I bought so much stuff. I was going to give one to my niece, friends etc. Yep, I tried a small one and that was the end if that. I never got back to it. All the tubing I bought, different sizes of course, I tossed last year. I just put the tape in my tool bag and rachet tool and connectors I still have. It will come in handy I suppose. The more I declutter, the more I uncover. My closet corners can tell you some stories. I have to laugh at my insanity.

Wow -- I just had a flashback. You reminded me of one of my projects. Remember a few years ago when charm necklaces were so popular? The ones with heavy chains and multiple charms? They were getting expensive and it was just costume jewelry. I got the brilliant idea to make my own. I went to a craft store and bought dozens and dozens of charms... that are still sitting in a bag somewhere. I actually have no idea where but someday I'll find them and wonder once again: "What the hernia was I thinking?"

I don't even wear necklaces! Or bracelets! But I have zillions of them! {#emotions_dlg.scared}

NyQuil popsicles! And Benadryl cookies, too? {#emotions_dlg.scared}

I wish I had a closet entitled "doomed, dead and buried projects" what a closet that would be. Yes Ive tried to make my own jewelry, terrainiums, sllk flowers, etc. I even found bolts of fabric for some reason. Im still wondering what in the world was I thinking. I don't sew! Never have, never will. But I bought reams of fabric. So figure. I think decluttering is a pain, but its so necessary to moving forward. Once you clear you space, you should feel a sense of space. OK don't laugh, but once I cleared out space, it made me happy and was a little freeing. And don't beat yourself up about lost dreams, who cares! Dreams can occur at any time, any where.

Nettej--Decluttering is a pain but we have no choice if we are to move forward as you say. I know there is a joke that people build on to their homes to have more space and then rapidly fill that space with more stuff. I have a timeshare in Hawaii. It isn't luxury but is nice. It has one bedroom, a living room with a murphy bed, a kitchen and a bathroom. It is the perfect size for me. I do very well there with the clothes I take and it is not filled with excess stuff. If I can do it there, I can do it here.

We have 8 days to go including today! Stay strong!

Hey everyone!

I am checking in! I have only made one purchase.. I had originally said I wouldn't buy anything ""new"" and that I could replenish my skincare so I had run out of my EL moisturizer and had used up all my samples so I decided to try a new skincare line Colleen Rothschild. I purchased the discovery kit which has everything in it so we shall see.

Other than that.. nothing new only groceries..

Whoo Who! Excited!!

Hope everyone has a great day! It's almost friday!

T.S. Eliot said that "April is the cruellest month," but I have to say that January is the longest month.

A week left, but it seems like it's taken a lot to get here.

I would concur on January being the longest month EVER!!! Ughhh.. but the good news while being on a no-buy this month I was able to pay off 3 CC this month. Whoo Who!! They were small but still, they are gone!

Which leaves me with 3 more... (I know...hanging head in shame....which I "Plan" to have paid off by August. So yeah!!

One week to go! We got this!!!
