@september I totally agree!! I wore glasses at 7 & contacts at 15. About 19 years ago I had LASIK surgery. It was life changing!! The last few years I’ve needed reading glasses.I can’t tell you how free I feel. I would highly recommend it!!

I have worn contacts since I was in at least high school. May have been earlier than that.
I have to have toric lenses so that makes them more expensive but I will never, ever go back to glasses unless I absolutely have to. I detest glasses. I hate the feel of them on my face, I hate looking side to side or up and down and seeing the edge of the glasses and I hate not being able to look out of the corner of my eyes and see. I have to turn my entire head.
I hate the way glasses fog up when you come inside from the outside cold, I hate the way they fog up if you are super hot and sweating, like during a workout. There just isn't one thing I can say that I like about glasses.
Some contacts are much better than others as far as being comfortable. I wear 2 week disposables right now. I did have daily disposables but the cost of them is just too much. I can't justify $100.00 a month for contacts.
I'm almost 50 so I've been wearing them a long time. But even back when I first got contacts, there was no build up time to wearing soft lenses. You used to have to get used to wearing gas permeable lenses or hard lenses. Those could only be worn a couple hours a day until you got used to them. But that's not the case with soft lenses.
I remember going into the eye doctor, he popped my contacts in and I wore them the rest of the day and all day everyday from there on out. I never feel them in my eyes unless I get something on them.
They aren't high maintenance at all. I take mine out at night, swish some solution around in my palm to wash them and put them in a case to soak over night. I don't have to go through extended cleaning since I toss mine every 2 weeks.

As a person who wears both, I am comfortable with either one. I have been wearing contacts for years and putting them in and taking them out is second nature. Glasses are more convenient to put on and take off, but they can be a pain if I am trying to watch TV in bed because I don't want to lay on the side of them and break the arm. My contacts are meant to be slept in and I usually sleep in them at least one night before taking them out.

I wore contacts for 25 years but when I was 45 or so I couldn't tolerate them any more due to dry eyes.
One eye needed a toric lens and those were expensive as I recall. Don't know if the cost has come down since.
Visit your eye care professional and see what options are available to you. You will be given trial lenses to see how you do with vision and comfort.

years, bifocals...(progressive lenses that graduate w/o a visible line) and the top portion is barely RX....don’t need them for driving, etc.
It’s become such a pain taking them on & off, putting them down somewhere & can’t find them, taking them along/needing larger bag to accommodate case & sunglasses.
Am thinking about contacts, but...I’m sqeamish about idea of putting something in my eye...blink terribly just trying to put in eye drops.
Is this an easy to wear, easy to care for & comfortable alternative to glasses?
I've worn glasses most of my life and have tried contacts twice. First soft lenses, which were a failure because I was never able to even get them in my eyes on my own. Later I tried hard lenses, which worked, but had a painful "break-in" period and which I opted not to replace when I lost one. I once had an accident where I scrated the cornea of one of my eyes as a child and anything getting near my eye freaks me out - contacts are definitely not for me. So I can't help with contacts, but I can share some tricks I've learned.
I've found that getting lenses with the Transitions coating means I don't need to bring sunglasses along with me most of the time. I use them when I'm driving and if I'm going to be spending time outdoors. Aside from that, I let my Transitions take me between buildings or on short walks. Because I use them mostly when I'm driving, my sunlasses and their huge case just live in my car.
And whenever I get a new pair of glasses, I put the old glasses in a case I always keep my by bed. Those are my glasses-finding-glasses and I always know where they are because as soon as I find my new glasses, I always replace them in the same spot, ready to help me find my glasses next time I misplace them.
I have a digital clock that projects the time on the bedroom wall so that I can read it without my glasses and roll over and not see it at all when I don't want to. I also have an Amazon Echo Dot in my bedroom and I can ask Alexa to tell me the time without having to put my glasses on.

I wore contacts for years but when it was time to switch to a bifocal contact that was a no go! I can wear regular ones just fine but the bifocals didn't work for me but part of that is that I have a stigmatism. You should be able to get a trial pair from your eye doc to see if they will work for you. Good luck! I'm in glasses now. :-/
