I've been wearing glasses since I was four, and contacts since I was 16 ( A LLOONNGG TIME!). Wouldn't want to be without them! I've tried the colored contacts a couple times, and couldn't get them to float well, so I didn't see well with them. I think I tried bifocal lenses once. For me, the best option is contacts for distance and general activities, and reading glasses at the computer and for reading. I wear soft lenses, rated for two weeks. I see much better with contacts than with glasses.

There is one more option...lasik surgery. One of the best things I’ve ever done!

I wore glasses for a few years, then tried contacts. It wasn't until after the expense of getting the contacts that I realized that my eyes and contacts are not a good fit. Sadly, I am one of those people who always look like I'm wearing contacts - not uncomfortable, but my eyes looked different. So....I tossed 'em and went back to my glasses. Now I embrace my different frames, and proudly wear my glasses as another accessory.
If and when I tire of my glasses, I'll get Lasik surgery.

Since your graduation is not that complex I would just buy a nice necklace to hang your glasses.
Contact lenses are high maintenance or else you can get an infection or even fungi.
You will have to learn how to put them on and to live with a foreign body inside your eye.
Ohtalmology has improved tremendously you even have ones that last for a month and do not have to take them away🌻there is always an opportunity cost

I wore contact lenses for 35 years and loved them. But due to dry eyes and decided it was not worth it and now just wear glasses. Life is easier with glasses.

Today's contact lenses are made of silicone gel (like Saran wrap). LOW maintanence, and you can't even feel them. There is no learning curve and you don't have to build up time wearing them. "Dailies" are throw aways. 30-day lenses are for daily wear.....you don't leave them in overnight. There are "extended wear" you can sleep in, but I don't personally know anyone who uses them. I wear a super-power lens in one eye only. It is a huge convenience, and has 16-hour wear, although I have worn it for as long as 20 hours with no challenge.

I'm over 60 and have never worn anything but contacts....for the last 10 years. I love them ! I usually forget I have them in my eyes. As with anything new, there is a learning curve but I wouldn't ever wear glasses if I can wear contacts.

May I suggest LASIK. I started wear glasses at 8; contacts at 14. And at 50 had LASIK. I’m 64 this year and are still loving it. I have to wear readers but that’s okay with me. Contacts are so advanced now. When I started, they were hard little things. So many choices. Good luck! You can get the LASIK in mono vision I think they call it so you don’t have to wear readers.

I had perfect vision until my eary forties. It went downhill fast after that! I chose readers and then kept upping the strength. I finally decided to give contacts a try. I wear a near vision lense in my (R) eye and a distant lens (L) eye. This has worked beautifully!! I can now see distance when driving as well as upclose glancing at the dashboard. I was worried about how my eyes would adjust. I'm on the computer a good part of my day for my job. It was a smooth transition. The eye docs will allow you try a variety of contacts, monofocul, bifocal, dailies, etc for about a month at a time to see if this is something that works for you before making the commitment. I've loved It!
I watched a bunch of youtube videos to find out the best way to insert/remove. It took a little trial and error but it becomes easier the more you do it. Lasik isn't a financial option for me at this time. Best wishes to you on your journey.

My daughter has worn glasses since grade school and got contacts when she was in middle school. She has had no problems with them at all. When she wants to give her eyes a break, she wears her glasses.
OTOH, my husband tried and was unsucessful in wearing them.
