I’ve worn my glasses for reading for many
years, bifocals...(progressive lenses that graduate w/o a visible line) and the top portion is barely RX....don’t need them for driving, etc.
It’s become such a pain taking them on & off, putting them down somewhere & can’t find them, taking them along/needing larger bag to accommodate case & sunglasses.
Am thinking about contacts, but...I’m sqeamish about idea of putting something in my eye...blink terribly just trying to put in eye drops.
Is this an easy to wear, easy to care for & comfortable alternative to glasses?

I have worn contacts since Jr. high. Now that I also need reading glasses, I have multi focus contacts. I think they work excellent. Can't feel them at all. Would never wear glasses. I can't stand the feel of them on my nose, the marks they make on my nose and the lack of peripheral vision. They are disposable. Wear for one week always removing at night to sleep. Throw away open a new pair. Easy peasy.

I've worn multifocal contact lenses for about 18 months. I won't go in to all the details of how I decided to do so other than to say that I was finally forced to wear glasses in able to read and see my computer. I like the glasses I picked out, I just despise wearing them, and I hate the on/off/perched on the end of the nose look of reading glasses..
it's a learning and adjustment process to find the lenses that work best for you. The fitting & trial lense process lasted about 90 days for me. It took me about a week to become comfortable putting them in, and then it was a process of refining the lens size and prescription. I have both extended and daily wear lenses. The extended wear can supposedly be worn for 30 days straight before replacing them, but my ophthmologist doesn't recommend doing so. The daily wear lenses are convenient in that you don't have to worry about cleaning, cases, etc. You throw them away at the end of the day.

I think so, they are easy to wear. I have worn glasses and contact lenses since I was around 12 years old.
The newer lenses are very comfortable. I tried the bifocal contact lenses and didn’t care for them at all. They drove me crazy trying to find the spot to see, through. It was easier to wear one lens for reading and one in the other eye for distance.
Currently, I have to wear a medical contact lens in my right eye, and no lens or glasses for distance for the left eye. I pop on readers if I really need to see small print.
Most eye doctors will let you sample disposable lenses. I would ask to try them out before you make a purchase.

I wear daily wear contacts which I love (toss them each night and put in a new pair each morning), but I've worn contact for many years. I don't have bifocal ones and do use readers with them. I MUCH prefer wearing my contacts to my glasses (which I usually wear around the house) and feel my vision is better in them as well. However, if you've never never worn contacts before, you should have an eye professional show you how to put them in and take them out and give yourself some practice until you're comfortable.

I like to wear colored contacts, nonRx. My eyes are very dark brown and I like wearing blue, green or hazel contacts just for fun.![]()

The dailies are great. Really thin and un-noticeable. No horsing around with cleaning and protein removal - just throw them away at the end of the day.
I didn't think I could wear contacts, either, until I became a group fitness instructor and wearing glasses was not an option. I do wear readers with them though, for small print, since they're for distance only. What fun to wear any shades I want, too.
I have a pair of glasses, progressive with Transitions and they're great, too, but I wouldn't want to be saddled with them exclusively, for the reasons you are getting tired of yours.
Give 'em a try.

@Shanus I wore hard contact lenses for 40 plus years. Just had cataract surgery and now see 20/20 without contacts or glasses...just readers for up close.....I do think contacts are wonderful alternative to glasses. There is a lot of up keep etc to do with them. You might see if your eye doctor will let you do a free trial of lenses for a couple weeks to see if it will work for you.
as far a putting them in your eye.....you just get use to it like anything new.
