I had my right eye done almost 3 weeks ago. It was so easy. No pain. I see very well. No plans to do my left eye at this point. I will say I didn't have any sedation and I was fine. I was a bit nervous. A lot of people I know had an IV sedation. I wasn't offered that. They gave me a drop of versed under my tongue but it didn't do anything. The hardest part was asking someone to take me. I find it almost impossible to ask for help. Then I find out they have a van that can pick you up. It's about an hour from my home. I could drive to the appointment the next day. Everything is good. I don't need my readers anymore. I could not wear eye make up for a week but I could use moisturizer on my face. I haven't worn eye make up yet. I might this weekend to church.

@PINKdogWOOD My cataracts were caught so early that I really don't see any difference in my sight yet...second eye still healing. I can now watch TV w/o any correction, but still wear the readers that have a clear portion on top so I don't have to keep taking them off and wear the enclosed string hanging around my neck.
My drops are for a week each eye for the one w/ beige top and the second one is with a pink top..both eyes for a month 4 times a day.
I haven't driven yet because of the anesthesia, but will give it a shot on Saturday.

@Shanus Sending you hugs. I hope all is good in no time. I'm sure it's really frustrating not being able to do a lot of what you autmatically do on a regular basis. Patience. You'll get back there before you know it.

With the things I have going on in my life on a daily basis between my DH, Son and other health issues, thinking drops 4x a day are a PIA and not being able to wear makeup would be the least of my daily issues.
Get a grip.

And it's not just the drops. My husband had to stay laid down for 10 or 15 minutes after each application of the drops.

@monicakm I was a bit nervous with all the movement in the operating room but had no pain. I asked if I was supposed to be asleep just in case. They said no just woozy. I wasn't woozy. I was the last surgery of the day and it pretty assembly line. LOL. It was all very nice and they couldn't have been more attentive. Actually I had lasik in the same medical building years before. There was no anesthesia then either. Just numbing drops.

@KCDiva, I'm def not saying that you're being untruthful, but I do find it hard to believe that you had no type of sedation whatsoever.
Almost everyone I know who's had cataract surgery was put into a brief & mild twilight 'sleep' where you're faintly aware of what's going on.
I can't imagine lying still w/ eyes wide open & watching a shiny instrument coming towards your eyeball! Jerking away, cringing or at the very least, blinking, would be natural,...and the outcome might surely be tragic for vision.

@Shanus You're lucky, I had 3 drops, pink, tan and grey tops. Still lasted a full month, luckily I don't mind giving myself drops. I do wear need 2.0 readers which I also don't mind needing. It's all about the distance, I can drive again with ease.
I LOVE IT!

@riley1 Uh, I have a GRIP. Everyone has their own issues. Sorry you're having a rough time.
