CHANGING HAIRSTYLISTS TODAY!

I'm doin' it!  Today's the day!!  I've been less-than-happy lately with my hairstylist whom I followed from a busy salon to her own little space.  No other employee, just her, her chair, and a sink.  I don't have long, perfect hair --- my hair is on the shorter side, not quite what I'd call medium length, and it's curly but not worn that way.  I have not gotten the "full service" that she offers to those with long hair.  I was getting the root color, cut, and dry.  Those with long hair were getting the color with amazing highlights and full styling with all assorted tools then pix posted on her FB page.  It's *not* about having my pic posted on FB, let me be clear!!  It's more about how she wasn't spending time on my hairstyle.  If I asked for a few foils on a few random ends, she'd say, "not today."  I was paying good money and walking out the door not satisfied.  So yesterday I said things were gonna change!  I stopped into a great local salon that has wonderful reviews, met with the stylist, chatted at length, and she happened to have an opening for this morning at 11:00.  So I jumped on it and am very excited.  I feel good about making the decision to change.  Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!!!

@BarbiHollywood   Good for you. Changing hairstylists, for some reason, is a big deal, but if not getting what you want for the money spent, GO FOR IT. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Re: CHANGING HAIRSTYLISTS TODAY!

That's awesome! No stylist should say "not today" and discourage you from what you want. You should get full service just like everyone else. I'm thinking of switching as well. I've been trying to grow out my long layers. For some reason, when I leave, I still have long layers. Even though I say trim the most minimum on the ends, it should've been more even by now. You go girl! I hope it looks great! 👍🏻

Good for you @BarbiHollywood   It sounds like you gave it a good try with your current stylist and if she wasn't providing the services you were paying for sometimes the only thing you can do is make a change.

I'm glad you have found someone who talked with you and listened to what you want. I hope it all goes great.

Re: CHANGING HAIRSTYLISTS TODAY!

I just went through the same thing.  I had been going to a stylist who was very nice & chatty but I just wasn't happy with the cuts.  She was chopping the sides and it looked terrible.  I gave her a lot of chances and would bring pictures to show how I wanted my hair....it's a straight bob but never looked anything like the photos.

I went to someone new in Sept. and he's been slowly fixing the mess.  My hair looks great now!

@BarbiHollywood Just wondering if we had been going to the same stylist...lol!  My old one also just moved to a new place a few months ago...her own little salon with one seat and no other employees.

She would also do amazing work on some clients and post the photos on FB but my hair never looked that great...it's not long more just below my chin and is a bob.

I'm in PA

Re: CHANGING HAIRSTYLISTS TODAY!

I'm kinda feeling the same about my hairstylist also, but for different reasons...I get washed, cut and blow in just under 30 minutes.   I can't say she's rushing,  but it's so fast, and I pay $55.00, I'm feeling it's just not worth it.  I have a longer bob, above my shoulders, and very fine hair. I'm pretty satisfied with the cut, and she's a very nice person, but I've been feeling for what I get done, I probably could go into a budget salon.  Besides, my daughter is a hairstylist and we sometimes can schedule a haircut .  She's so busy, and I don't like to take her time away from her clients...but she always wants to do me.  I just won't take advantage,  but ill let her fill in sometimes.

@BarbiHollywood

I hope you love your new hairstylist. Let us know how things go today.

It's always a bit scary to leave one stylist and try out another. I've done it a few times myself.

The first stylist who did my hair for years finally retired. Then I found one who helped me grow out my short hair. I really liked her, but she was always running way behind schedule. I got tired of waiting an hour or more past my scheduled appointment time.

The current stylist I use is close by, and always runnning on time, but IMO she charges a bit too much for a wash, cut, and style. I'm going to stick with her for now, though, because she knows what I want and does a good job.

@Dazlin :  Let your DD do your hair.......you can always give her a "tip" but avoid the frustration that you feel where you presently go.  If she didn't want to do your hair (DD), she would not offer.
