But doesn't 'spam' usually advertise something for sale? This post says/means nothing, just a waste of space.

I'm guessing the second (now replaced with a Mod deletion message) post in this thread, was the spam part. Note the poster who registered 5 hours ago has 2 posts listed, but only one appears in the actual history. That means one of the person's two posts was deleted.
