Today I opened my last tube of my favorite lipstick, Rouge Dior in Eccentric, which has been discontinued. There's still some left in the other tube, but it can only be used with a lip brush. I don't like dealing with a brush and a lipstick for quick touchups away from home, so I'll use that at home and keep the full tube in my purse. I'm kinda sad though.
The new tube should last me a few years at least going by how long my last tube lasted me. I don't wear lipstick, or any lippie really, on a daily basis.

My sister is going thru the same thing with a color she is wearing, but she uses a lip brush as she wears lipstick every day. I have a favorite, too, that is no longer carried where I shop. Don't know if it's been discontinued or if they just don't carry it. Will need to Google that one.

I recently posted 2 posts on discontinued lipstick colors. My favorite has been discontinued by Rimmel for several years. My stash was dwindling as I wear lipstick everyday because that particular color does a lot for pulling together my coloring, foundation, hair, etc. ( I am 78 ).
There are a few tubes left that have to last me .....
I took the advice of another poster and used 3 Color Specialists company in Provincetown, MA that creates / matches the color from a small sample ( scrape it out of the very, very bottom of a tube, size of a dime ). They will make 2 tubes for you. If you are lucky and they already have created that match for another client, you will save $.
They also match foundations. Google their website for more info.
If you have saved tubes that were used down to the flat surface, you can dig out a considerable amount that is hidden below the surface level. I very recently posted a picture where I dug out 2 remnants and put them in an empty small mirrored shadow container. I use a lip brush to apply it and thus prolong the good tube.
HTH.

I'm sorry. I feel your pain. Been there done that. There is life after your last tube of your favorite lipstick. You will find something you like just as much. Might want to start now looking for it.

@Icegoddess I'm sorry that your favorite lipstick is discontinued and running out, I know the feeling- my signature pink lipstick from Sephora brand called "Love You Too" was disconitnued and I wore it everyday for years and it was discontinued around 2020. Whenever my favorite lipstick is discontinued, I look in store and online for duplicates to my favorite color of lipstick from different brands. I'm an artist and I love color theory and makeup and I found some lipsticks that are close to that color of your favorite Dior color rouge 996 Eccentric lipstick. Here are the brands and colors to look into that could be close dupes:
-MAC lipstick shine in the color "O"
-Bobbi Brown lipstick in "Downtown Plum"
-Makeup by Mario lipstick in "Daniela"
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in "Rum Raisin"

You can always google for dupes. Sometimes I find stuff that's even better than the dc'd one.

@SportyShorty07 How nice of you to search for that lip color. I admire your talent. I cannot "see" color to distinguish variations. You have a wonderful gift.

This has been all over TikTok. google: ROUGE SUR MESURE CUSTOM LIP COLOR CREATOR
You can make your own using a photo of you wearing your favorite lipstick.

@SportyShorty07 Thanks, I'll check into those. I guess if I were to describe it, raisin is the name I would use. It's really hard for me to shop for lippies as the color in the tube is often different than what shows on the demo cards, and even if I can swatch a little from a tester on my hand, that's not quite how it'll look on my lips. I saw one Fenty lippie the other day in Ulta that one of the colors was nowhere near the color the card showed. I could tell without even swatching it they weren't the same color, not even close. I really had to look since the print on the container was so small I had trouble reading it even with my reading glasses on.

@SilleeMee I Googled it and didn't get very far. I bought that last tube directly from Dior after I found out it had been discontinued. It's been a few years. When I Googled Dupe for..... I got one page. Temptalia was at the top, but it didn't appear they had that shade listed.
