Re: Beekman..Hype or Really that Good

I have to say I fell for it. I had used a goat milk soap before, and I loved how my extremely dry skin felt after using it. Beekman soaps fragrance is amazing...soap? smells good but did nothing for my dry skin and their handcreme? again, smelled lovely, but .... did nothing for my hands at all.

Re: Beekman..Hype or Really that Good

Isn't it a good thing that everybody is different!  The Beekman bar soaps are the best soap I've ever tried!  And I've tried other goat milk versions.  The Beekman ones are triple milled so they last a really long time and are wonderful for dry skin.  I do not care for their other products however.

First, they need to remove the mineral oil and the artificial dyes from their products  to make them more credible in my eyes.

HYPE.  I love goat milk soap, but I get mine from goat milk stuff.  Great quality, wonderful CS, family run.  Much better prices.  They also make a fantastic laundry soap for those with sensitive skin.  Like their creams, lotions, and liquid soaps much, much better

Re: Beekman..Hype or Really that Good

No, Beekman soaps are not hype. There are companies that make even purer products and there are a lot of companies that make products a lot worse. Think most of what you can pick up at the drug store for the worst category. If you really want to know, look up what the soap making process involves and then what most the big companies offer in their ingredients. That's a bit of a chore, because they don't want you to know what's in them and what is taken out. They want you to believe their marketing and sales pitch.

I like Beekman's soaps and did notice a difference in my skin and nails in around two weeks, not one day. There's a thread on here about what products to use to harden finger nails and the price of that. Not using products every day containing detergents does wonders for that...does wonders for a lot of things actually.

Though I do have a ton of their soaps in my home, I have since found a little company in Ohio I like even better.  That doesn't take anything away from Beekman or make them hype.

Off my soapbox.... ha

Re: Beekman..Hype or Really that Good

It's not hype...I've purchased from Beekman, Bend Soap Co and Goat Milk Stuff, and that is my order of preference in terms of the soap.  All three are great and prices are comparable (Beekman's bars are huge and you can usually get them for $8-9 on Evine v $4.50-$6.00 for Bend and GMS.  Oh, and Zum is great, too, and carried at Whole Foods, so you can smell before buying.

I really haven't used these companies' other products, so I can't speak to them.

LOVE THE SOAP...   not drying at all and lasts a really long time. Even my husband noticed a huge difference when I switched to the Beekman soaps.  I wrote and asked them why the Goat Milk ingredient was the last ingredient, and they said it's because of the way they refine the milk into a powder.  That it is the quantity of the powder that goes into the soap that makes it the last ingredient, but that the powder is very concentrated,  so it really does not reflect the goat milk percentage in the product.  I like their other products as well.  I'm a sucker for beautiful packaging, and if I enjoy the product and it works for me, I'd rather spend a little more for the one that is packaged nicely.

I've given their products as gifts and people absolutely LOVE THEM ...   and have thanked me over and over.

I've tried Goat Milk Stuff, and purchased from them twice.  Their soap is very nice, however, I prefer the Beekman soap.

This line is a toss up for me.

I'm not a bar soap girl, I haven't used bar soap for years. However I wanted to see what all the rave reviews were about so I purchased one of their TTV's earlier this year. The set included 3 bars of soap, a shower gel, body lotion, hand cream and a lip balm. The scent was Aloe & Iris, which smelled fantastic, but unfortunately was just a scent done for the TTV. I have to say that all the products are of excellent quality.

I used the bar soap in the shower with my mesh loofah. It made a decent amount of foam and when I got out of the shower, my skin was really soft. BUT, I also didn't feel really clean......does that make any sense? The soap bar was a big size and lasted a long, long time. Since I didn't like to shower with them, I used the other two bars as hand soap. Smiley Indifferent

The shower gel was nice. I wish they would really expand and offer a choice of bar soap AND shower gels!! I can't be the only person who prefers shower gels to bar soap, can I? Smiley Frustrated

I absolutely LOVED the body lotion and the hand cream!! Both did a fantastic job of hydrating my skin without any greasy feeling. My skin was incredibly soft after using these products. Heart

I liked the lip balm alot. It glided on easily and kept my lips soft and hydrated for a long time. I didn't have to keep applying it throughout the day and it wasn't the least bit waxy. Heart

Overall, I like the line but I do think the items are a bit pricey, unless you get a TTV or some other 'special' price. For instance, the lip balms sell for $8 (plus shipping) and there's just no way I would ever pay that for one lip balm. Since practically all their sets include bar soap, I haven't purchased anything from them again.

The goats are sooooo cute, they make excellent salesmen!! The last time they were on, one of them was wearing a cute sweater - just adorable.
