Thank you @Ronettes !  One more question - do you take your biotin with food?

Yes, always!

I have acute gastritis, and am very careful about my stomach.

The Biotin works for me.  I started mainly to help my nails.  Terrible ridges,cracking and peeling that are getting better, but that will take alot of time.  I have been taking it for about 10 weeks twice a day.  Once didnt do anything. But what I realized is my hair is really growing fast.  My 12 week cut has been moved up to 9 weeks!!!

For me it would mean that my hair is growing in places where it was not, not how fast it is growing, when you color you hair and your roots are grey why would you need it to grow any faster, not to mention how pricey a good cut is.

@Shelbelle , YES!  I do take Biotin and I know it makes my nails grow faster.  Always had strong nails.  But, what I really want is more hair, not faster growing hair.  As it is, I'm coloring every 5 weeks.  I let it go to 6 wieeks this time just because I really needed to get something else done on color day and my roots were ridiculous.

I take the Natrol brand from Costco.  It's a strawberry pill that dissolves.  I swallow enough pills and don't like doing it.

@SilleeMee  - could we please revisit your thoughts on the Bamboo Extract vs. Silica, in regards to using it alone or as a partnering supplement with Biotin?  TIA

@JeanLouiseFinch

Bamboo silica extract contains 70% silicon dioxide (aka silica or silicon). Also available is 100% pure silicon dioxide powder. Either can be taken with other supps w/o concern.

Silica is often added to other supps in capsule form as an anti-caking ingredient...keeps the powder free flowing.

And the silica is not the same thing as bamboo extract where the whole plant is pulverized and put in capsule, correct?  Something about not knowing the percentage of silica when it's done that way?

@JeanLouiseFinch

Silica is extracted from a plant or it can be created in a lab. Bamboo extract is 70% silica. Horsetail silica extract contains only 25% silica. The rest is plant material.

@SilleeMee  OK, thanks. I have a giant bottle of bamboo extract capsules but I can't see the 70% silica anywhere.
