@April14I have had what you describe on my nose and it was actually protein according to the dermotoligist.  He told me to use a wash named Aqua Glycoloic which I can now get on amazon or order through the pharmacy.

To clear pores it takes a month or longer.  Don't expect results quickly.  The problem didn't happen quickly.

@ECBG:

Thanks SO much for the specific recommendation, from your dermatologist. I did some quick online research and was impressed. Just ordered it from Amazon!

I dont think anyone was trying to be a wise acre, but it is off putting when 'mother' is used out of context of family.

Thanks, @maestra

I had no clue, @Drythe, so I just thought is was some goof or typo. Sorry if I offended you. That was certainly not my intent.

No, I didn't think you were being offensive, just asking a question.  I thought you would get a better information reading about it than I could type out here.  No problem. Smiley Happy

Bragg's calls it mother and I don't know any other word for it, but @maestra if you do I'd be happy to learn it.
