2) neuropeptides are here!
1) peptides are here.
I think the reasoning is... neuropeptides supposedly are able to reach the dermis. By the time those skin cells work their way to the epidermis, they've been "conditioned" where they will appear firm, toned and moisturized.
I'm not sure how or if this plays out in real life, but it sounds good.

I asked my dermatologist once about Perricone products' claims and she chuckled. She told me a ton of stuff about his company and products, but in sum, basically said a lot about what the PC review above said. She added that she really hoped he paid his marketing staff a lot because they are brilliant at "...spewing completely ridiculous myths about skin and skincare that people actually believe."

QVC and Perricone's mission is to sell product. Dana as a spokesperson is prepped to say what company marketers have determined will sell the most product.
Paula's choice has a long review of the moisturizer and rates it Average.

To the contrary, the no-information presentations obviously do sell a lot of product, otherwise QVC would not continue to sell Perricone, and Dana would not be the paid company spokesperson.
The marketers for both companies track the sales data and presentations are carefully crafted to maximize sales.
There tends to be the perception that the on air presenters are acting independently, because we never see the hundreds of people behind the scenes who make this happen.

I can't address Perricone specifically as I've never used it, but it's my opinion that topicals (other than retinol and a handful of others) can only make a slight if any difference in the skin.
I find it more interesting that so many companies on so many channels give you specials that include 3 or 4 times the size of the regular product. What this tells me is that the product itself is quite cheap to manufacture, most of the money goes into packaging, advertising, etc. For example if you get a 3X the size $200 cream, you are NOT getting "$600 worth of product" as the channels would have you believe. If you love something, the big sizes are a bargain, but the channels totally misrepresent the cost. I'd love to know what the ACTUAL cost of product itself is, I think we would be stunned.

Quick, somebody give that girl a Breezies bra! $200 for a glorified moisturizer is one thing but at LEAST give the ladies who buy it some product. It's such an itty bitty dinky amount for the exorbitant cost.

If you ever have time, watch "Shark Tank". The owners have to present details to the "Sharks" about their product...cost to manufacturer vs cost per sale is the foundation of the show. There was a young girl making sugar scrubs...almost pennies to make, but she sold for something like $10....the profit margin was high. I'm surprised more beauty products are not featured....the markup is astronomical.
