Re: Anyone else using products for breakouts/clogged pores & anti-wrinkle?

OP, if you've never had problems with silicones in products before (they're in so many), you probably shouldn't worry about it. Technically, speaking they really can't clog pores; and they do offer benefits to a formula and to your skin.

Dimethicone is occlusive so it actually can trap dirt and sebum.  Some 'cones also enhance skin penetration so sensitivity to another ingredient present in the formula could cause reactions.  PC's serums are really high in dimethicone and other silicones and silicone polymers.  I agree they are not bad ingredients but, like anything, there are sensitivities and reactions to them.  I've experienced issues with silicone heavy products but not so much if they are a low % of the total formula.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this statement. It is, like so many other effective ingredients, an occlusive (although it is an oil-free occlusive that actually helps to reduce greasiness).

Before applying ANY skincare, I do try to make sure that my face is relatively clean. But I have no concerns about the trapping of sebum due to any beneficial occlusive ingredient that is rated as not being comedogenic or at most very low on the scale.

But of course, every person is different in terms of sensitivies. I stll believe that the biggest objection to silicones and other occlusive ingredients is the "feel" of them. Personally, I think of all of them, silicone provides the nicest feel, which is probably one reason that is included in so many products, including primers.

Re: Anyone else using products for breakouts/clogged pores & anti-wrinkle?

after Easter my skin broke out horribly and joined my clogged pores which liked the company.  I returned to the aesthetician who did microdermabrasion facials for me 13 years ago.

Results after 3 treatments are excellent.  First, most of the clogged pores are gone and the two remaining ones have gotten quite small and disappear totally with slight makeup.

Secondly, the breakouts are gone with no telltale sign they were ever there.

Thirdly, my skin is much brighter and smoother.  Sometimes I just use eye area concealer and go without my IT CC cream.

Fourthly, I save a lot of time and money on buying skincare products: at 70, the facials are my treat to my self and well worth the expense.

Continuing to use the Clarisonic...but now it's on smooth skin and works better.
