It really bothers me when some beauty vendors refer to Helen as “72 years young”. 72 is 72. No such phrases/titles are attached to Joanne, perhaps the same age or close.

What do you think?

of course  , they don't want to "offend" someone by inferring that 72 is old.

just don't mention her age at all, and do the presentation.

Helen looks like a lovely vibrant woman

in fact saying 72 years young it's drawing attention to the age thing.

I hear that phrase quite often during the beauty shows. It's just dumb. You state an age as "blank" years old.  We don't say a 10 year old is 10 years young. It think it's almost like emphasizing that someone is getting older. Either state their age or not. That's just my opinion.

I couldn't' agree more!  I cringe every time someone makes that statement -- and they do it each and every time Helen is on.  I'm glad to hear I am not the only one who feels this way.  I find it rude and demeaning to older gals, like everyone needs to look 20.  We are the age we are and look our best.  You don't hear them saying the ages of any of the other models do you!
