Good Evening!--Yesterday I went to the gym, I am boring, I know, then cleaned our bathroom. I cleaned the whole main level before the holidays and the hall bathroom that DS would be using when he's home but didn't have time to clean our master bathroom, so I got that done yesterday. Today, DS and I went to see "Into The Woods", I really enjoyed it. It is an adult theme fairy tale. My favorite song is "Children Will Listen", it's on Barbra Streisand's second Broadway CD, "Back to Broadway". I have both of her Broadway albums and love them both. We went to a new movie theatre by our house, you reserve your seats which we didn't do until we got there and the better seats were gone. Anyway, the seats are a lot bigger and are more like a Lazy Boy recliner and have a tray. There were only 82 seats in the theatre as there has to be plenty of room for the seats to go back and then out. If I ever go there again, I'll have to get the tickets on line ahead of time to get seats. There was even a bar in the lobby! The four of us went out to dinner tonight. We went to Coastal Flats, I think that's a chain. I haven't been there in a long time. It was good.
Helen47--I'm so jealous! I want a fire pit! Our friends have one and I love them! If we stay here I may have to put one in my back yard. It is good to get together with old friends, they know you, warts and all!
Mochahoney--I love your red sneakers! What fun! Even though I'm going to the gym every day, I'm sure I've gained a pound or two but I don't care, I'm enjoying the holidays and the food and treats. I'll get back to my old, boring, healthy habits in Janaury!
KatCat1--I'm sorry that your holiday didn't go as planned. Getting sick over the holidays is no fun. I do hope that you're feeling better soon.
Sunshine--I got my shingles shot as soon as I turned 60 in October, that's when my insurance would cover the shot. I do hope that you're feeling better. I have a friend that got a case of the shingles at 55. I don't know why insurance won't cover it sooner but I'm sure they did statistics on it and that's why they won't cover it until 60. It seems to me though that more are getting shingles at a younger age.

Spammom--It sounds like you're doing well and that you have a wonderful, supportive family. That means so much when you're facing so many challenges. I know they'll be with you all along the way. We'll all be here too. You've got friends everywhere!

hi everybody ... i'm back!
seems like i was gone forever, but it was really only one week. the kids came in on tuesday and they left yesterday, on sunday. it was SO HARD to say goodbye, but we had such a wonderful time. it was really the best christmas in such a long time. their dad and i divorced in 2001, and it has taken some kind of long time for us all to work our way through that. this christmas was such a gift, in that respect. i think all our old wounds have healed.
yesterday bf and i took the last to leave, my ds, to the airport. i'm glad bf was there with me, cauz i really felt a little weak in the knees. too much emotional stimulation, i guess. lol. anyway, after ds left, bf took me for a nice lunch at the beach ... after which i promptly layed on the couch and re=grouped myself.
today i spent the morning washing dishes and putting stuff away (that i had taken to the rented condo), and then i started putting my christmas stuff away. its all done except the tree. ornaments are packed, i just have to dismantle the tree.
and then i will be back to life as usual. i sort of wonder what the heck i will do with myself ...
so sorry that i haven't kept up with all your posts, ... but i trust you have all had a safe and comfortable holiday season.
and now, ...
back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Good morning all. Sounds like most of you have a very good & happy Christmas, and now we all have to look forward to a new year. Clean slate, clean start, as my mother used to say. And I like to think of it that way. Hopefully, my health will improve and I will feel much better this year. There is so much I want to do around the house, but just haven't felt like it.
On Christmas Eve day, getting out of the car, my right knee gave completely out & I fell on the concrete driveway, "cracking "(that was what the doctor said) 2 small bones in my knee. So on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I could not walk! It is somewhat better now, although I have to be very careful when I stand up, and walking is still very painful. With me, it just seems to be one thing after another, doesn't it? Hopefully, I"ll have better luck health wise in 2015.
As far as New Years Eve, we usually go out for an early dinner so we can be home before all the hoopla starts! On New Years Day, our tradition is to stay home, eat Hoppin' John with mashed potatoes, and watch football.
Hope everyone has a good rest of 2014, and are looking forward to 2015 with great anticipation.
Happy New Year to all!![]()

Good Morning! It was busy at work yesterday and now I don't have to go to work until next Monday! Yeah! I'm off for a week! I went and had my personal training session with my trainer and I just signed up for morer training sessions. They usually have "specials" at the end of the year and I always get them. I have enough training sessions to last until next June. It gives me time to save up for the next "special". To get a good rate you have to buy the "special" packs that they offer. I really like training with my trainer. She's a great person and she keeps me focused and on track. I'd save a ton of money if I could do it on my own.
Helen47--Yes, "Into the Woods" is a muscial. My DH would not go to it either, so I dragged my DS. They are based on the fairy tales we know but they are adult themed. I did see children in the theatre and I probably wouldn't take anyone under 10 to see it. I enjoyed it but everyone's tastes are different. I would like to see "Big Eyes" with Amy Adams but not sure if I'll get to see it. My DH rarely likes to go to the movies and I have to get one of my friends to go with me. I have a friend that loves to go to the movies, so maybe I'll ask her if she wants to see that one. DS did say that his Dad would enjoy going to the new movie theatre since the seats are so large and recline, he can take a nap while I watch a movie that I want to see! I think DH can stay home and take a nap for free!
FansyPantsy--Yes, it is hard when the kids leave. Of course, one of mine is still here! DD is currently working full time and going to school to get her masters. She's been here since she graduated in 2012 and saving the money to pay for her masters, so when she does move out, she'll have zero debt and be able to afford to pay rent. Rent is so high around where we live. DS left early this morning! He literally ate everything in sight. I totally understand your situation with your divorce and the affect it has on the kids. My brother got divorced about 20 years ago when his children were in their early teens. It took a really long time for his children to deal with it, they were at a really bad age. My brother got remarried in 2002 to a really nice woman, who had been married before but never had children. They seem happy. My brother's former wife has been living with someone for years but never remarried. I like his first wife and always go along with her. My brother and his first wife were high school sweehearts and were married for 22 years. It was sad when the marriage ended. I'll just say that there was fault on both sides of that one. I love my brother but I don't think he made the best choices. In the divorce he was more than generous though and always provided very well for his children.
