Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Glad you started on PT sessions @JudyL , Definitely take pain meds before a session but if you had no pain during the session, take it as soon as you get home instead of before. I found that in the immediate aftermath of my surgeries, I took a pain med before before bed but ended up sometimes waking up & needing a 2nd pill before returning to bed. For the most part once the initial thigh achiness stopped I was just taking regular Tylenol.

The weather has been sunny but cold -- in the 30's today.

Today I visited Home Depot & bought an outlet to replace one that is half working. If it was by the corner I wouldn't care but this outlet is centered on the countertop between the cooktop & the sink. Only the top can take a plugged in appliance. My middle son will switch it out for me next week.

My electric teakettle arrived & I had a lovely cup of chai tea. The regular teakettle will be tossed out.

I'm waiting now for 2 potholders to ship for my stainless steel lids. Grabbing a washcloth isn't a great solution.

Tomorrow is toddler EP's birthday party. He is turning 3! He's a talkative boy who loves his Sesame Street & Cars characters.

It will just be immediate family & a few of my son & DIL's friends with their children.

Next week I visit the tile store & see if I can purchase a silicone in the color of the grout on the kitchen backsplashes. The previous owner didn't have a grout protector at where the countertops & tiles meet. I noticed the same thing with the 2 bathrooms. That has been corrected. No worries about grout chipping off.

Hurray it's Friday!

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning!  It's a little rainy today but a l ittle warmer, our golf course was closed this week due to freezing temperatures overnight and they wanted to protect the greens.  Our club restaruant was offering a heavy discount to come & have lunch, so the group of ladies went up on Wednesday, our usual golf day and had lunch and socialized.  Had plenty of other things to do anyway, I try to clean out drawers, closests, etc. in January & February  since the weather isn't as nice to play golf and I don't need to be out there all the time.  Some of the ladies in my group play 4-5 times a week, too much for me!  I hope that everyone has a good weekend.

SISD--We're all watching the wildfires here and it's just so devastating.  I do hope all your family members are safe and I hope they can get things under control.  The winds are so bad though.  I can't believe your DGD is graduating in May, it seems like she just started college!  I'm sure you're a proud grandma!  I know what you mean about taking the decorations down and the house looking so sparce.  January & February are the hardest months for me to get through, it helped when we moved to NC, we get to be outside more than usual.

MM--When DH & I went on Medicare we got the app on our phone so we can easily check what Medicare will pay for and what it won't.  We use it a lot.  We have Medicare A & B but didn't pick up part D as we have that in our supplemental policy, it's the same policy DH had when he worked, we got to keep it, we do pay for it.  Since we've been on Medicare we haven't gotten a bill for anything except a couple of perscriptions that we have and they've never been more than $5.

JudyL--I hope you're able to get your PT soon, I know my friends down here that had knee surgery started PT fairly quickly.  The walking sticks are great!  DH and I don't have knee issues but since we hike in the mountains we got the sticks and use them, love them!

JJM--It sounds so cold up there in Boston, I miss looking out the window at the snow but don't miss driving in it.  It's gotten pretty cold here the last couple of weeks but hopefully will warm up soon.

Viva--So sorry to read that people lost their pets.  A house was hit by lighting in a different development and the people weren't home but their two dogs were and perished, the house was a total loss too, so sad.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good late evening!

The party was very nice & low key. EP liked the Cars theme. Pizza & ice cream what's not to like?

We did get some snowfall this morning into the early to mid afternoon. Fortunately it didn't stick on the roads. I did drive in a small storm of not heavily falling snow.

I'm home now & am enjoying a cherry almond scone with a cup of chai tea.

Good to 'see you' @Hayfield .

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

hi all. it was so cold today, but a pretty day.

the deer processor called DH a few days ago and said our meat was ready. DH left early this morning to drive to just outside of Jackson to pick it up. he was up half the night with pain in his foot, so I told him he needed to drive straight up there and straight back, and do as little walking as possible. when he got there he was able to park right in front of the door so he didn't have far to walk (he took his crutches), and the men at the place loaded the meat into the cooler for him.

I took advantage of a quiet house and slept late. I went to the library to turn in a book and pick up one. I've been wanting some catfish filets and hushpuppies, so I went on a search for a restaurant I heard had good catfish lunches. I found it without getting lost Smiley Happy

we'll have Ezra tomorrow because DD has to work half a day.

@JustJazzmom, happy birthday to little EP.....3 years old is quite an adventure.

sending blessing to all.

here's a Greenville levee sunset.

have a peaceful evening, y'all.

[ Edited ]

Hello! Spent part of the day organizing some papers & setting a folder up for those papers. I threw out some stuff I had kept from both my surgeries that were no longer needed. It's nice not to see disorganization.

Tomorrow I visit the tile place to see if I can match the grout in my kitchen -- I need a tube of caulk to cover the grout where it meets the countertops. This wasn't done by the previous owner. The grout is cracking. The caulk which is more pliable will hide this. I hope I can find the correct grout caulk so it works. I may take the plastic sample bars with me if I can't decide.

I tossed out my old teakettle because it had
rust in it. The electric tea kettle that arrived this week works a lot quicker at heating water than using the cooktop.

I made a mini cucumber salad tonight with 2 Tbsps. unseasoned rice wine vinegar, 1 Tbsp. sesame oil, 1 Tsp. garlic powder, 1/4 Tsp. cayenne pepper. I served it with a reheated slice of pizza from yesterday's party.

You can adjust the sesame dressing ingredients upward if you have a lot of cucumbers or can use it over lettuce.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good evenng.  Today I went for a haircut and had to park farther away from my hair stylist's shop than I wanted.  Took my time and had my cane but this afternoon I was hurting.  Ugh, so tired of this.  Anyway, took some Tylenol, iced my knee, and rested.

Other than that, I didn't do anything else.

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good Morning, it was a relaxing football weekend for us, but we want to get out back and do some early yard clean up. It got windy here during the night.
Our weather has been cool and dry with very little winds, so we didn't feel the need to pick things up that might get blown away. I did just hear on the news, though, heavier winds expected later this evening.

@JustJazzmom , happy late birthday to EP. 3 years old is such a cute age, and I know he had a fun day.

@MariotaMurielle , I've never had catfish. I've heard it has a mild taste. Do you grill it?

@Hayfield , my family and I are OK. They all lost power for a couple days and had a lot of mess to clean up but do know how lucky they are. The fires are still going strong and the windy conditions are expected to continue through Wednesday. All very sad for so many people.
It's hard to believe our DGD will graduate this year. Time did go by fast, it seems. She's done so well, graduating at the top of her class. We're all so very proud....

I hope everyone has a good day. Happy Monday!

Re: “2025” Everyone, Please Join Us!

Good morning.  Winds are howling here and we are under a high wind advisory through tomorrow, Tuesday, morning.  My DD brought her cat over this morning as my DD is having work done on her apartment and the cat couldn't stay there.  So I have a roomie for about a week.  Poor thing is hiding in my spare bedroom.  DD got her all set up in there with her favorite blankets, toys, DD brought her robe so she'd have something with DD's smell on it, food, water, etc.

My front door lock is not working so have someone coming today to look at it.  I can't leave the house.  LOL  I can lock the door from the inside with the deadbolt, however, if I go out the door, shut it, and then lock it using the deadbolt with the key, I then can't open the door or at least it's very hard to do.  Yesterday when I got back from getting my haircut, I almost didn't get the front door open and it's my only way into the house!  I don't have a back door.  It also doesn't seem to want to close properly.  I have to really push on it from the inside to close.  We'll see what the maintenance guy says when he gets here.  I've had problems with this door before and he's been able to fix it.
