Congratulations @JudyL . I was 37 years, eight months when I left the workforce. You'll go through a period when it feels like you are on vacation and should soon be going back to work. My adjustment took about a month but some of my friends said it took them much longer to break away from the work cycle.

@AuntG - I have heard that at first it feels like you are on vacation. I'm taking February off from any commitments so that I can adjust and relax.

Good afternoon!

I awoke to see on TV temps in the low digits here -- 3 degrees. It's now a whopping 13 degrees. We had no problems with pipes freezing; but one son had hot water line in bathroom for shower and sink froze. Maintenance came by to the rental property to put a space heater in place. I told him that in the future, before heading to bed run the shower and bathroom sink hot water at a decent trickle to prevent the line from freezing & open the cabinet doors so room air can get inside.

He just texted me to say that the faucets are working again.

Hung out here all day, did a load of wash and will now fold and put some of it away.

@JudyLCongrats on your retirement. Believe me, you will find lots to occupy your time.

Weather report here says a chance of rain. Right now the sun's shining, but it's on the cool side. We slept in a little, so haven't decided what we have going on. 

Max got a new blanket..it's warm and he loves it!

@JudyL   Congrats on your retirement.  I remember my dad always wanted to go to Africa, but never got the opportunity.  How fun for you.  @viva923  Glad to hear your foot is doing better. Awhile back I mentioned that my brother had developed cancer, malignant melanoma.  Well, today he went to the ER today as he was not doing well.  He was going to have a CT scan when I saw him today to find out what was going on.  His kidneys are acting up also.  I plan to call the hospital after dinner and talk to his nurse for any new information.  This hospital has a weird rule that you can visit a person in the hospital, but once you leave you cannot come back the same day, you have to wait to the next day.  I have never heard that before.  So, of course Ill go tomorrow and spend some time with him.  Would appreciate any well wishes sent his way.  Thank you.  For those of you that like Mexican food, I made a Chicken Taco Bake casserole last night.  Found the recipe on Taste of Home website.  It was very good.  Everyone have a nice evening.

Talked to my brother's nurse for an update.  He is having surgery tomorrow at 1 pm.

@katte , I'm keeping your brother, as well as you and your family, in my prayers while he goes through surgery tomorrow and after. Please keep us posted. 
I've never heard of that hospital policy regarding visiting either.  Interesting. The taco casserole recipe sounds really good. I get Taste of Home recipes sent to my email.

@viva923 , I read about your weekend on the other thread. Sounds like you and your DH had a busy, but very good weekend. Its also good to hear how nice you were taken care of and treated at the National Guard building too..
