Re: “2018”~60’s Ladies and Everyone, please join us!

@Hayfield

DD commute is supposedly 1 hour each way. From what I have seen since August, rarely is it only 1 hour.

sigh

One of the most important tips I have received (and she said this rings true) is:

”Turn the tables: Sometimes, calling the bully’s bluff works. Try responding to abusive statements such as, “You always mess up,” with “What would you have done differently?” If the bully responds with another smear, like “I would have just done it right to begin with,” ask for specifics. Often, the bully has nothing constructive to add and will back off.”

This helpful technique is from a poster we both know and revere.

Ladies, so many of us are very savvy women. We can give each other so much valuable information from our professional and personal experiences. I am so grateful for everybody💗

@LTT1, your daughter is still young and well educated. She needs to be happy! Her health, the wellbeing of her young children, and maintaining a good marriage are the most important things right now. Coming home from work feeling miserable is not healthy for any of them. I hope this can be resolved.

@LTT1, “Turning the Tables”, I like that! sounds like a great technique. I do think #1 boss will have a different/better side to this, but DD will decide. Let us know! I agree, as women, we need to support each other, always!

@Hayfield, I hope you were able to open windows and air your house out a bit. It’s so lucky, you’ll already have friends where you’re moving. We’ve moved a few times over the years, and that’s one of the hardest parts. I’d love a bonus room above the garage! I’ve heard of that. Too bad, you can’t post pictures! If we move, it won’t be near our son. We can’t afford the area he’s moving to. Might be another half hour north of him. The good news is, it will be closer to my family!😊

@snardy, how are you? Did you get any snow? I’m anxious to hear how you like the movie..thinking of you!💕

@JustJazzmom, your bundt  cake sounds delicious. I’ve been wanting to make a pineapple upside down cake. Do you have an “easy” recipe? Maybe made with a box cake mix?😉

Its been overcast, cool and dreary. We got a few sprinkles and that’s it! We didn’t do too much today. DH just came down, and we’re going to look for a movie. I hope everyone had a really good day!

Re: “2018”~60’s Ladies and Everyone, please join us!

for the last month and a half I've been doing everything I can think of to stay extra busy so my thoughts won't be on my DD 24 hrs. a day.  I've purged and reorganized closets, dresser drawers and kitchen cabinets. I've rearranged furniture and my 75 shaker boxes. I've listed more than a dozen things on eBay. I've read 2 books. I guess I'll need to start all over again, which won't be a problem since all those things are never ending.  it's helped, but of course she's still always in my thoughts. I am so grateful that she is making some progress and also grateful (more than I can say) for all of your thoughts and prayers.

since we should mention "beauty" occasionally I guess, in case the self appointed beauty police are reading this, I'll tell you about my latest beauty adventure. I bought the Dermaflash 2.0 when it was a TSV recently. I've only used it once but love the results. exactly like they showed during the demonstrations, it cleared off quite a bit of "debris" and made my skin feel so smooth . the added benefit is the peach fuzz removal. I might do it only every 2 weeks instead of weekly, but I definitely like the results.

just a few days ago it was 10 degrees here, today it was like spring.

here's a pic of an ice on the lake sunset in Yalobusha county.

have a peaceful evening y'all.

Good evening friends,

I had a peaceful day. I walked on the treadmill and did a few things around the house and then I read. I made a delicious apple cranberry hash for dinner. I melted some oleo in  a frying pan and put in a cut up apple, some dried cranberries and some walnuts. I cooked them until the apples were a little soft. It was so yummy!

Loves, am I correct that DD may not leave her job after all? I agree with RetRN that it’s not healthy to work in a hostile environment. I worked in a stressful situation once and it really affected my health. Your DD is a smart girl and she will do what is best for her and her family.

Hayfield, I’m glad you had fun with your friends. It will be nice to know some people when you move to your new neighborhood.

SleeplessinSD, the movie “The Post” was very good. I think you would enjoy it. I worked in the school district also as a teacher. I loved it. It was my favorite job. Did you enjoy your work? What are you doing this weekend? It’s supposed to snow tomorrow so I am making chicken noodle soup. Take care, friend. 💜

Hello to Katte, Mochahoney, Catwhisperer, RetRN, JJM, and our other friends. Sweet dreams and blessings to you all. ❤️

Mochahoney, we were posting at the same time. I admire all that you are doing to keep busy. Can you come to my house? 😄 I agree that keeping busy helps keep your mind off your troubles. I’m happy that DD is progressing. I continue to keep you all in my prayers. Thanks for keeping in touch. Thinking of you! 😊

@SleeplessinSD Yes I do! 😄

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

1 pkg. Duncan Hines pineapple supreme cake mix — 1 stick butter — 1 Cup packed brown sugar — 12 pineapple slices (in its own juice can) — 12 maraschino cherries

1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 13” X 9” X 2” pan. Add brown sugar to entire surface & place pineapple slices on bottom with cherries in middle of each slice.

2) Follow pkg. directions under basic recipe. Instead of water use pineapple juice from the can & add milk till equal to 1 1/3 Cups liquid.

3) Once blended, pour batter over fruit. Bake cake for 45 minutes. Let cool in pan 5 minutes & invert to serving platter. Continue to cool & then cover with lid prior serving if making 1 day in advance.

Yield: 12 Servings

Lazy 2 days here. We are trying to finish watching The Crown on Netflix. We are up to episode 9.

Good to ‘see’ you @MariotaMurielle.

Beauty talk: tried a GWP Lancôme Miel Glacé blush. If you are very fair, this is a light pink shade. Even building it, with liquid foundation below it, it is subtle on me. I recommmend it for very fair people or for a subtle hint of blush for slightly darker of face this works.

@LTT1, whatever your daughter decides to do, I'm sure she'll make the right decision. working in a hostile environment is so stressful.

I believe that karma almost always triumphs in the end. I had a boss one time who's primary concern was making herself the star. she would sing your praises in private and then turn around and say something to humiliate you in front of your coworkers. she made sure her every move was calculated to make herself look good to the chief of our department.

part of her plan to make herself look indispensable was to always make sure the budget looked so impressive. in the end, she was caught "cooking the books", so to speak. embezzling funds, and even leaving during the day to work somewhere else while being paid to work at our facility. I'll never forget the day the security guards came to her office and escorted her out of the building with no warning at all.
