Dear shaina, please accept my deepest sympathies in the loss of your hubby, and your faithful furry friend also. Glad you have found this thread. There are such lovely women here all walking the grief path. Feel free to stop by anytime. Someone is here every day. Our dear possummink posts pictures to give us a smile and sometimes a laugh.
I'm thankful you have sons who care about you and that you sold your home and moved close to one of them. I live in SoCal also, but more inland. My hubby went Home on October 17, 2010. Six years ago yesterday. I don't like to think about the hospice days.
He too had metastatic cancer and parkinsons. He was 84. We were close to our 58th anniversary. I'm thankful his suffering is over.
I have 3 kids and 3 grandkids all of whom live here in SoCal. That's a huge blessing that not everyone has and I'm thankful.
It's a pleasure to meet you even though none of us wants to be here. Life continues and it can be good. May the Lord bless you.

Hi Possummink:
This reminds me of our Mt Ranier and our Puget Sound with the seagull. We live in such a beautiful place. Very nice to look at. When our weather changes and storms are going to hit the coast the seagulls move inland and we have them flying over and around our homes. They are large and noisy. But a good indicatior we may have bad weather moving in.
Sorry your Brother is having problems hope he is feeling better and you are catching up on your rest. It always stressful when the ones we love and take care of have anything go wrong. Take care of yourself. Hope the rest of your week is pleasant.:heart

Dear shaina:
Like me you found this thread by accident. It has been a real life saver for me and I hope you will find it as beneficial as I have. Someone is always here to respond if you need a kind word. The ladies on the thread have all gone through what you have and are in different stages of grief. It's a nice warm and welcoming place to be able to come and say what is hurting you the most. Like you I have two Sons one lives in the midwest and one lives here not too far from me. It is so wonderful to have family they are what keeps me going. So glad you made the move to be near family. I lost my DH two years ago the 13th of the month and I still am grieving and think about him eveyday. Some days are good and then there are days when my grief takes over and I love that I have friends on this thread I can talk too. They always make me feel so much better. Welcome, glad your here. You just made a whole bunch of new friends who care about you. Post often and let us know how you are doing.![]()

Hi Silkeej. I agree that you live in a gorgeous area of our country. I've only been out to Washington and Oregon once and remember that trip very well. It was for the Worlds Fair in Seattle, back in 1962. I think that's the year. We went up in the Space Needle and had lunch. What a spectacular view.
My nephew is living in that general area, stationed at Fort Lewis. My younger brother and his wife flew out there today to visit him and his wife and daughter. My brother was stationed at Fort Lewis before he retired from the Army as a Colonel. He would have loved living there, but our Mom and his Mother in Law were in fragile health and his Father in Law was quite ill, so they moved back to Edwardsville, IL, my SIL's home town and they have a really nice home there. He loves going out to Washington and hiking and going to various nature areas. We are all kind of into nature. Nature offers so much, lots of learning, beauty and it's free. All you have to do is 'see' it and be out in it. Even a back yard is full of learning opportunities.
Our leaves are really starting to change and it's gorgeous. The color palette is breathtaking. I just stop and stare and thank God for the magnificent Earth He gave us. I know I am grateful for all I can see, and take in. It's so awesome and inspiring.
I can get so carried away. I love to watch sea gulls, though at the beaches they can be big pests, but that's man's fault for feeding them, but who can resist them. I often wonder where they go when Florida and other places are hit with hurricanes. Same with our birds here. I don't know where they go during thunderstorms and tornadoes. I look for them in the trees and don't see them. Yet after the storm passes, the are back at the feeders and going about their daily lives.
I had planned on doing several things today and accomplished nothing. Just feel worn out. I do have to see the eye doctor tomorrow and Friday get my SUV inspected to get new tags for the license plate. Still catching up on rest I guess. Take good care and stay safe from those storms that you all have been having there. ![]()
