Yes, I think you and @geezerette are correct, I don't owe explanations to anyone.
I'm not going to respond to that woman's letter and will promptly round file it.
I am doing fine, still have ups and downs, as to be expected. Since I've been around the block on widowhood before, I pretty much know what to expect and how long it will take me to fully recover and move on.
My first husband's death was sudden and completely unexpected so I was really thrown for a loop and in a fog of misery and disbelief/denial. Took me a long time to get over it completely.
My second husband's death was expected but still a shock when he finally died. I suppose I was hoping for a miracle but that was not to be. This time, I feel mostly sorrow and heart ache that we will not be enjoying retirement together. We had such plans! I'm profoundly sad about the whole turn of events over which I had no control. It's like an article you read about in the newspaper about some catastrophe and you hope it never happens to you, but then it does.
