I don't remember the "compassion and heart" part...

Most definitely not my recollection of events occurring in the 1960s, except perhaps on The Andy Griffith Show, My Three Sons, Family Affair and Hazel.

Speaking for myself, growing up in the 60's and 70's, I had a great childhood and it was the good old days for me, especially looking back, even though I probably didn't realize it at the time. I wouldn't trade it and I'm glad I am not growing up in these times. We did have the best music, hence all the tribute bands now of that area. Also, enjoyed the TV shows, including the cartoon pictured, Mr Peabody and Sherman.
But mostly I miss my family, friends and all that go along with it. Most are no longer here. ![]()

Awww the good old days of war, Jim crow, and assasinations.

Just like most things in life, everything is relative. With no exaggeration, there is not a day that I turn on the news to find that there are shootings and other crimes. Not even talking about national news. Locally here in South Florida, there are top stories of some shooting and often times killing here in Miami and Ft Lauderdale areas daily. And those are only the ones that make the news.
Used to be able to leave your car doors unlocked, even house unlocked. We always locked up, but many didn't. Not the case anymore.
As is evident today, we still have wars. And there are still some assassinations, not as heartbreaking as JFK, RFK and MLK, perhaps, but murder continues. Unfortunately.
