I enjoy FB. Yes there are bad things about it but my feelings about it are mostly positive. It's a great way to keep in touch and re-get in touch. And to keep up with friends and family.
I think you're being a little paranoid about this "old friend." But it is kind of weird that he friended your son. Maybe not though since you're not on FB yourself. Maybe not nosey - just interested - curious. And like another poster said - he may have seen your son under "people you may know."
What's weird is when people you don't know at all friend you.
You can unfollow people too and they know nothing.

@Tori3569 Oh yes it is!!!!
This was mentioned on my local news as well as the local news........
FB & IG are now the leaders when it comes to human trafficking. Especially FB which surprised me. I assummed it would be IG.
Local news just about every month or so will do a story of some high school female and/or male who were "lured" into human trafficing through FB.

Thank you for your replies...I think I'm more mad at my kid for "friending" the person without asking first.
Phone conversations are enough. That's all we had forever..
Yes I may be a bit paranoid about people asking things..I tell people on a need to know basis friend or not.. He asked my kid a few questions that I feel he doesn't need to know the answers to..My life is not an open book..It's open to only certain people in my life.
Again thank you all.

@SamBrown - seriously. I agree. This isn't espionage. It's Facebook.
And I don't really get it. OP, you say your "kid" is an adult. Really, why are you even involved?

@Jo1313 .......No they cant still see his posts(I think). What your son needs to do is block him, then he cant see posts or contact your son on FB.

@I am still oxox There is a setting where only friends of friends can send you a friend request, I have that setting and never get friend requests from wierdos anymore.

I really enjoy Facebook and belong to several groups there. Get togethers, sharing info about gardening, hobbies, etc . . . it's great in so many ways. I access it thru a special app, Facebook Purity, I've used it for several years and love the controls they have in place, it is a free app but they ask for a donation to help support it.

Ok I'll agree on that, but this thread is about an adult friending another adult's grown son or daughter. It's not about a teen or other unsuspecting child being lured into anything. That's what I was referring to. Plus, the OP said the "friender" is a friend that she speaks to on the phone and she is more concerned about the old friend looking at pictures or seeing updates.
Most adults who use social media know how (or can learn how) to set their privacy settings to avoid unwanted interactions.
