Wed.night I got a call from someone who claimed to be from the fraud dept. of my credit card company...She had a lot of info about me and my family..I was nervous just didn't seem right ..She gave me a # to call her back which didn't work..She did this about 3 times...She spoke very fast.

She claimed there were charges on my acct. from 1 store..they were small amts. so there shouldn't have been red flagged...

I called the credit card company's fraud dept...there person I spoke to said there were no charges to the store that was named..He closed my acct. and is sending new cards..via UPS...he also told me to notify my banks to make sure no one can make electronic withdrawals on any acct. and to notify my phone company and local police.

The woman called back  again to tell me they were having phone issues..I told her I called the fraud dept. my self and was told the charges were bogus.. and she hung up.

Whether the phone call I got was bogus or not..just be careful when someone calls you about an acct.

I received a call like this a few months ago. I immediatley changed passwords at my banks, credit card, and cancelled my debit card. I was about to go to my bank and they gave me a new debit card.

I investigated fraud for 20 years. I am not taking any chances.

I always check the number of who is calling before I pick up.  If I don' t know it, I just let it ring or hit answer and end or block.  Depends on what mood I'm in that day.

@spumoni99 and that's how you have your notifications set up.  You chose to answer the call and it's fine.  I have had them send a text and once had them call.  I still chose to call the number on my card back.  Told the person "thank you I will call you back" and then called their direct number.  They understand and fully support doing that.  It's very easy to get drawn into a call where they want to discuss issues with your finances and possible fraud or theft.  Just my way of ensuring I have received a valid call or email or text.  As always do what you feel comfortable doing.  No right or wrong.  I just would rather error on the side of being extra cautious 😊

NEVER answer the phone, if  you don't know who it is.
