absolutely GREAT Thursday!!!!

My DD got a job today!! She was "laid" off from her former job after being there 19 years,  about a year and 1/2 ago---talk about being gut punched. It hit her so hard mentally that she couldn't even function much, without some good meds and therapy. Fortunately, my DD had a nice sized savings account to live off of--she and I are roomies. She got some UE but only for 6 months and after she "healed" up---she started looking for work but nothing in her field. . However, just this last week she got 3 job notices for employment --when it rains it pours--and went in for the one nearest to us --yesterday she went for working interview and got offered a job!!! she starts in a week or so. the boss really had wonderful things to say about her--almost made her cry!!! Really a good day!! We will prob be moving to where her office is at the end of our lease in Dec. Woman Very Happy

wonderful news!!! Congrats to her 🥰 What field of work is she in?

Huge accomplishment for her to get emotionally healthy and back on track. I know how much you have probably been worried about her

Re: absolutely GREAT Thursday!!!!

So happy for you both. It's a scarey thing to have happen. I never worked in a high position of any kind and dodged that  a couple of times, but had to bump someone out of a job that paid less then what I previously had made, but wasn't going to start over after being there for 30 years. I made it to 45 years and retired 10 years ago.

Re: absolutely GREAT Thursday!!!!

@smoochy --she is a dental lab tech, so she will make crowns and mouth appliances and such, starting out. That's what she started out doing 20 years ago, but ended up in charge of using the 3D printer to make other dental  things---learned all this in the early days of 3D printing so she has tons of knowlege about that. Yes, those days after she was laid off were pretty trying for us both-----but she is very savvy about doing what she needs to do about her emotional/mental health--am very proud of her!!

@catter70 ----It is tough and congrats on for 45 years!! Quite an accomplishment!! The job she got canned from, was her very first job ever,  and stayed there for 19 years---

Re: absolutely GREAT Thursday!!!!

In spite of what people say or would lead one to believe, the job market sstinks.

My son-in-law is in the same boat, it took him 3 months to find something.  He is supposed to start a new job this coming Monday but they will not breath a sigh of relief until he walks through that new door.

He was a regional director and those jobs are not something that comes along very often so he had to take a step down and take a general manager position.
