@BirkiLady  The OP did not say her daughter picked him up from work. She picked him up to get out of the house for awhile.

@occasionalrain  Wasn't sure if I read that correctly or not, thus I put a (?) in that sentence.

He has a medical need that may inhibit his ability to get to the nearest bus route - it all depends on what CTA uses as route justification  - for me, it is 3/4 of a mile outside of a bus route. He won't know what is available to him until he speaks with someone in that office.

@hyacinth003. First off Blessings to you and your daughter...I feel for you, because this gentleman has been a good friend to your daughter, and been there when she needed him, you want to be able to let her be there when he needs her.

I would allow if on a temporary basis, while he finds another alternative that will work for him. Give them a timeline-say ok For two weeks she can do this, after that you need to have Plan B in place....

I think there are two ways to look at being out at that time of night. First-very little traffic, so that is a plus, but also if it snows or it is icy, that could be very scary and a problem for your daughter.

So I think instead of just saying outright NO, let her do it temporarily while he finds an alternative, but definitely set a timeline and stick to it.........He has to realize that this isn't safe for her either......

Good Luck with your decision.....Some things are never easy or cut and dry-right?
