How much food that you purchase do you end up throwing away? I know it would be a guess.... but, if you were to guess... how much fresh food say... or packaged food..... going out of date food....would you figure out of all that you purchase?
I have a THING about throwing food out I have figured out what amount to buy to when I can use it.... and I have a system of preparing my fresh food( vegetables)so that it lasts longer in the fridge using paper towels and moisture packets that I buy on Amazon. I find that much of fresh food that goes bad it because of moisture... thus the moisture packets and paper towels....
So I am going to say that 98% of the food I buy is not thrown out. Actually I would say100% , but, sometimes things just go bad no matter what I do... so I am leaving my guess at 98% of food I buy is not thrown away.

I just cleaned the fridge and freezer last weekend.
I would say 5% or less is wasted. That's fridge/freezer/pantry.

I throw out too much; mostly canned and outdated stuff. My husband is a fan of buying stuff that's on sale, like soup, just because it's on sale. Another thing he does is buy bigger size products (because it's cheaper by the lb) when I only need a small amount for say a specific meal or recipie. Or he will buy two because they are a special price. Then it gets shoved to the back of cabinets and I can't see what's there so I end up buying more and not using what's there. I've had to clean out cupboards as we are having our kitchen redone. So I now see what how much food gets wasted.
I'm on a mission to not purchase things until what we have has dwindled down. AND I will not be sending him to the store for me any longer. I am specific when I send him and tell him "just get the smallest package or I only need one so don't buy extra" but he does not listen to me.

I'd say maybe 3 percent. Only occasionally do I throw out something from the refrigerator. Usually mold on a piece of cheese in a baggie.

Rarely is there a crumb thrown out in my house .. I keep close track
of left overs ... for hubby's lunch .. and any produce I buy ....

Always the 3rd banana. Comes home green as grass - mush slime on day 5.

Very little gets thrown out. The last item I remember getting rid of was a bag of dried apricots which had gotten too hard to eat. That was months ago.

very little in our house gets thrown out as well. We eat leftovers, and unless my husband or I forget about something it gets eaten......So I would say, maybe 5% gets thrown out. I clean out my refrigerator once a month as well.

Very little, maybe 1% gets thrown out. I stopped just buying things to keep in the pantry about a year ago. it quickly gets out of hand in my kitchen! I love to cook so I use pretty much everything up. I also grocery shop every few days so produce is always used up.
